Sentai Filmworks licenses 2nd season for streaming; will screen Arrow of the Orion film at AX

Warner Bros. Japan revealed a new visual and the July 12 premiere for the second season of the Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? anime on Friday, and it also announced that the anime's original light novel author Fujino Ōmori will attend this year's Anime Expo as a guest alongside the anime's producer.

Sentai Filmworks also announced that it has licensed the second season for streaming, and that it will screen the second season's first episode at Anime Expo. Sentai Filmworks will also screen the North American premiere of the Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?: Arrow of the Orion film at the event on July 4.

Warner Bros. Japan also revealed that the franchise's various novels and manga adaptations have 12 million copies in print.

The second anime season will premiere on Tokyo MX, Sun TV, KBS Kyoto, BS11, and AT-X on July 12 at 24:30 (effectively July 13 at 12:30 a.m.).

The new cast members for the second season include:

Hideki Tachibana (Circlet Princess, Armed Girl's Machiavellism) will replace Yoshiki Yamakawa as director for the second season at J.C. Staff. Scriptwriter Hideki Shirane, character designer Shigeki Kimoto, sound director Jin Aketagawa, and composer Keiji Inai are all returning for the second season. Yuka Iguchi is returning to perform the second season's opening theme song "HELLO to DREAM."

J.C. Staff adapted author Fujino Ōmori and illustrator Suzuhito Yasuda's Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? light novel series into a television anime in 2015. Sentai Filmworks licensed the series for North America, and Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired in Japan.

Ōmori and illustrator Kiyotaka Haimura's Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Sword Oratoria spinoff light novel series inspired an anime that premiered in April 2017. Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime under the title Sword Oratoria: Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? On the Side and simulcasted the series in the United States on Amazon's now-defunct Anime Strike streaming service.

The series also inspired the Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?: Arrow of the Orion anime film, which opened in Japan on February 15. The film will also screen in North America, the United Kingdom, Australia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, and Thailand. Sentai Filmworks has licensed the film and will release it in U.S. theaters on July 23.

Yen Press is releasing both the original novel series and Sword Oratoria, as well as their respective manga adaptations, in North America.
