Thunderbolt Fantasy - Seiyū Genka Theatrical Work's 2nd Promo Video Reveals October 25 Debut

The official website for the Thunderbolt Fantasy franchise revealed on Sunday that the previously revealed new "video work" in the franchise titled Thunderbolt Fantasy - Seiyū Genka is a theatrical project that will open in Japan on October 25. The video reveals that Takanori Nishikawa (T.M. Revolution) is returning to perform the theme song for the theatrical work. Hiroyuki Sawano is collaborating with Nishikawa on the song, titled "Crescent Cutlass."
The below character introduction video additionally highlights Làng Wū Yáo's mother and Làng Wū Yáo as a child.
The video also confirms and reveals more cast, including:
- Takanori Nishikawa as Lang Wu Yao (Rōfu Yō in Japanese)
- Nao Tōyama as Mu Tian Ming (Mutsuten Mei in Japanese)
- Rie Kugimiya as Chō Fu
- Tarusuke Shingaki as Xiaò Kuáng Juàn (Shō Kyō Ken in Japanese)
- Katsuyuki Konishi as Líng Yá (Ryōga in Japanese)
- Kikuko Inoue as Làng Wū Yáo's Mother
The website also revealed a new visual.
The theatrical project will be set in the land of Xi-You (Seiyū), and will center on the character Lang Wu Yao and his past. The new work is separate from the earlier announced third season of the show.
The first season premiered in July 2016, and the Thunderbolt Fantasy: The Sword of Life and Death film opened in Japan in December 2017. The second season premiered in Japan last October. Crunchyroll streamed all three installments.
Gen Urobuchi (Madoka Magica, Fate/Zero, Psycho-Pass, Aldnoah.Zero) was credited with the first season's original work, and he also wrote the scripts and served as chief supervisor. Nitroplus was credited with the character designs, and Good Smile Company was credited as the "modeling adviser." PILI Multimedia Inc., a well-known hand puppet drama production company in Taiwan, produced the series. Hiroyuki Sawano (Attack on Titan, Aldnoah.Zero, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress) composed the music and Yoshikazu Iwanami was the sound director.
