Netflix Streams Death Note Live-Action TV Show in India on October 15

posted on by Adriana Hazra
Show premiered in Japan in July 2015

Netflix is listing the live-action Death Note television series for release in India on October 15. The company is streaming a trailer for the series.

Netflix describes the series:

Armed with a notebook that allows him to end lives, Light uses his newfound powers to levy vigilante justice while he evades world-renowned detective L.

The show premiered in Japan in July 2015, and features an original story not told in the anime or movies. The show ran in 127 countries and territories, following its broadcast in Japan every week.

In Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata's original supernatural suspense manga, a teenager named Light finds a notebook with which he can put people to death by writing their names. He begins a self-anointed crusade against the criminals of the world, and a cat-and-mouse game begins with the authorities and one idiosyncratic genius detective.

The manga ran in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 2003 to 2006, and its 12 compiled book volumes have 30 million copies in print. The manga has inspired three live-action films and a 37-episode television anime series in Japan. Netflix is streaming the anime series in India. Viz Media released the Death Note manga in English.

The live-action films star Tatsuya Fujiwara as Light Yagami and Ken'ichi Matsuyama as L.

Netflix's live-action Death Note film premiered in August 2017.
