Fantasy Life Online Smartphone Game Ends Service in Japan on December 15

posted on by Alex Mateo
Level 5 launched iOS, Android game in July 2018

Level 5 announced on Monday that its Fantasy Life Online iOS and Android game will end service in Japan on December 15 at 2:00 p.m. JST. The company has concluded that it will be difficult to provide services that will satisfy its customers in the future. Sales of in-game "Life Gem" currency have halted, and refunds will be offered for unused Life Gems after service ends.

Level 5 first revealed Fantasy Life Online as Fantasy Life 2: Futatsu no Tsuki to Kamisama no Mura (Fantasy Life 2 Twin Moons and the Sacred Village) in 2015, and the company held a closed beta in July 2016. Level 5 then changed the title to Fantasy Life Online in October 2016, with a planned release in 2016. Level 5 then delayed the game several times before releasing the game in July 2018.

Boltrend Games will release the game worldwide. An open beta for the Android version of the game launched on October 28 in Canada, Australia, Malaysia, Finland, Romania, and Argentina, and ran through November 5.

The game is free but certain items in-game cost extra. Players go up in rank as they progress through the game and achieve tasks from their corresponding Life Master. A new "Village" feature allows players to build their own village.

Nintendo released the first Fantasy Life Nintendo 3DS game in North America in October 2014. The game originally launched in Japan in 2012.
