Anime Limited Distributing Physical Soundtrack of Makoto Shinkai's Suzume in U.K., Ireland, North America and Europe

Pre-orders for import Vinyl edition are now available, international Vinyl and CD editions will follow in Q3 2023

Anime Limited has announced that it has acquired the North American and European physical distribution rights to the soundtrack of Suzume (Suzume no Tojimari or literally, Suzume's Door-Locking), Makoto Shinkai's new film.

Pre-orders for the Japanese import edition of the Vinyl soundtrack are available here for North America, the UK and Ireland. Pre-orders for mainland Europe are available at AllTheAnime.fr.

The stock for the Japanese import edition of the Vinyl soundtrack is expected to arrive in mid-March. It is a two-LP set on the Universal Music label.

There will also be an international edition of the Suzume soundtrack on Vinyl and CD in the same territories in early Q3 2023. Information and pre-order details for these releases is due in February.

The 29 tracks of the soundtrack are also available to stream or download on the following platforms, depending on territory: Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, iTunes, Spotify, Tidal and YouTube Music.

The Suzume film is due to be released in the UK and Ireland on April 14, by Crunchyroll in partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment, Wild Bunch International, and Eurozoom. This follows the film's opening in Japan on November 11 2022.

Suzume is scored by the band RADWIMPS, which previously collaborated on Shinkai's films your name. and Weathering With You, together with Seattle-based Hollywood film composer, Kazuma Jinnouchi (Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045, RWBY: Ice Queendom). The TikTok performer Toaka performs the theme song "Suzume," which a trailer for the film has previewed.

Several of the recordings for the soundtrack were held at Abbey Road Studios in London, with both Kazuma and Yōjirō Noda of RADWIMPS conducting the orchestra there.

CoMix Wave Films describes the story:

On the other side of the door, was time in its entirety—

17-year-old Suzume's journey begins in a quiet town in Kyushu when she encounters a young man who tells her, “I'm looking for a door.” What Suzume finds is a single weathered door standing upright in the midst of ruins as though it was shielded from whatever catastrophe struck. Seemingly mesmerized by its power, Suzume reaches for the knob…

Doors begin to open one after another all across Japan, unleashing destruction upon any who are near. Suzume must close these portals to prevent further disaster.

Shinkai stated that three important points about the film are that it is a road movie around Japan, a story about "closing doors" rather than opening them, and a reason to visit the cinema. He elaborated that closing doors can refer to tying loose ends or finishing something.
