ADV FILMS ANNOUNCES FEBRUARY 8 RELEASES

HOUSTON, January 18, 2005—ADV Films, the #1 producer-distributor of anime in the U.S., is pleased to announce the release of several exciting titles in its expanding library on February 8, 2005.

NEON GENESIS EVANGELION PLATINUM: 05

The titanic Eva units are back and ready to kick ass in the awesome re-mastered glory of Neon Genesis Evangelion Platinum Edition, and the fifth jaw-dropping volume of the mega hit series will hit the streets on February 8, 2005! Biblical prophecy, human drama and blistering hi-tech battle action collide as the award winning anime classic unleashes new fury with breathtaking re-mastered video and breath taking digitally re-mastered 5.1 surround sound, creating the ultimate Evangelion DVD experience.

This highly anticipated popular series is directed by Hideaki Anno (Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water, His and Her Circumstances); produced by GAINAX (FLCL), NAS (Yu-Gi-Oh!) and TV Tokyo (Serial Experiments Lain); and animated by Production I.G. (Ghost in the Shell) and GAINAX.

The first test of the new Eva unit ends in disaster! As the giant bio-humanoid runs out of control, both Asuka and Rei fail to stop it, leaving, Shinji to face the berserk monster alone… but will his compassion for the fellow child trapped inside the monster become his undoing? As Gendo unleashes the monstrous power of Unit 01's dummy plug, it becomes horribly apparent that the Evas are far more than just machines. The truth behind the sinister mask of the Eva is revealed.

GETBACKERS: BATTLES WITH THE PAST

The Door to Their Destinies? Or to Certain Death?

Ginji Amano and Ban Midou return to face the ghosts of their past on February 8, 2005 with the release of the fourth volume of the hip new series Get Backers: Battles with the Past.

Ginji and Ban, two continually broke guys who seem to always be down on their luck, have made it their calling to retrieve items that have been stolen or lost…. for a price of course. Though they appear to be a normal duo, Ginji and Ban both have powers that allow them to take on impressive enemies. They'll dodge bullets, defeat supernatural enemies, even risk their own deaths; whatever it takes.

Based on the hit manga by Rando Ayamine and Yuya Aoki, Get Backers' high stakes action scenes were animated by Studio Deen (King of Bandit Jing, Cowboy Bebop).

The minute they entered the Limitless Fortress, the Get Backers were separated from each other. After roaming endless hallways and fighting thug after thug, they're finally back together again... only to find themselves stuck in a room with six exits. Which door should they choose, and what will be waiting for them on the other side? It's a one-on-one fight to the death as Ginji and Ban face off against both friends and foes from their past. And when the dust finally settles, who will be left standing?

MEZZO: SHELL 3

The curvaceous gun-bunny Mikura returns with smile on her face and a pistol in her hand as the third and final volume in the sizzling new series Mezzo hits the streets on February 8, 2005

Created by Yasuomi Umetsu (Kite), Mezzo is jam packed with hard-boiled action, sci-fi wonder, and kick-ass babes with guns.

Stay alive long enough in the danger business, and you'll get a reputation. The funny thing about that – the better your reputation gets, the more people want you dead. The DSA know this all too well. Every body blow, fireball, and ricochet lets Mikura, Harada, and Kurokawa know that they're doing something right. And, it must be something very, very right – because the line separating them from a closed-casket funeral keeps getting thinner. From the undead to the Black Scissors gang, from trained assassins to the boys in blue – with so many enemies, even the tiniest friend can mean the difference between life and death.

Mezzo: Shell Three (SRP $29.98 DVD) is a DVD-only release, including four complete episodes in both English 5.1 and Japanese 2.0 language versions, with English subtitles. Extras include: clean opening and closing animation, production sketches and ADV Films previews.
