DEL REY MANGA ACQUIRES GUNDAM SEED DESTINY

(New York, NY; December 5, 2005)—Del Rey Manga, an imprint of The Random House Publishing Group, announced today the acquisition of GUNDAM SEED DESTINY, a Kodansha property with original art by Masatsugu Iwase and story by Hajime Yatate and Yoshiyuki Tomino. This new entry into the hugely successful Gundam franchise is a spin off from Del Rey's bestselling five-volume Gundam Seed series.

GUNDAM SEED DESTINY (Ages 13+) takes place in the tense period just after the war between the Naturals and the Coordinators has come to a close. Although both sides have signed a treaty, tensions still run high. During a conference at a ZAFT base, an Alliance special forces team attacks and steals three new Gundam mobile suits. Forced to pursue them, Shinn Asuka of ZAFT and Athrun Zala of Orb set out aboard the new space battleship Minerva, and engage the retreating Alliance strike team in combat. But just as they catch up to the fleeing ship, the crew of the Minerva receives word of an even greater catastrophe in the making, one which will could re-ignite the brutal war between the Naturals & Coordinators!

The first volume of GUNDAM SEED DESTINY will go on sale in July of 2006.
