Aniplex of America Announces Kaguya-sama: Love Is War Complete Blu-ray Set

In romance, the first one to confess their love is the loser.

SANTA MONICA, CA (November 1, 2019) – Aniplex of America is excited to announce that the smash hit comedy series, Kaguya-sama: Love Is War, will be released as a complete Blu-ray set on February 18, 2020. The complete Blu-ray set will include all twelve episodes on 3 Blu-ray discs along with a special booklet with character reference guides and scene design materials, as well as an exclusive illustration card set - all housed in a charming package illustrated by character designer and chief animation director, Yuko Yahiro. The Blu-ray also comes with the textless version of the iconic opening featuring the highly addictive song, “Love Dramatic,” which was composed by popular Japanese pop rock band, Ikimono-gakari's leader Yoshiki Mizuno and performed by renowned musician and Japan's “King of Love Songs,” Masayuki Suzuki, and actress Rikka Ihara. Fans of the series will also get the textless ending featuring halca's “Sentimental Crisis”, in addition to the textless ending of Episode 3, which went viral, titled “Chika tto Chika Chika” performed by Konomi Kohara, the voice of the unforgettable character, Chika Fujiwara.

The quick-witted and hilarious series based on Aka Akasaka's manga series published in WEEKLY YOUNG JUMP magazine quickly charmed fans from all over the world since premiering in January of 2019. Produced by A-1 Pictures (Sword Art Online, Blue Exorcist) and directed by Record of Grancrest War's Mamoru Hatakeyama, the series follows Kaguya Shinomiya, voiced by Aoi Koga (Angel's 3Piece, Two Car) and Miyuki Shirogane, voiced by Makoto Furukawa (Fate/Apocrypha, One Punch Man), as they engage in a highly cerebral warfare, which usually unfolds into a uproarious comedy of errors commentated by the narrator, voiced by Yutaka Aoyama (Gintama, Black Clover).

“Kaguya-sama takes the often-irritating anime romcom shenanigans to the extreme, playing off the awkwardness as the main event rather than an obstacle to an eventual hookup,” writes Anime News Network's Michelle Liu. “The result is a hilarious train wreck of a romance that not only doles out great absurd humor but manages to stay refreshingly realistic when it comes to the characters' feelings.”

All episodes of season 1 are currently available to stream on Hulu, Crunchyroll, and FunimationNow. Fans can also look forward to more Kaguya-sama: Love Is War with a recently announced season 2 on the way.
