NEW YORK, NY (September 1, 2023)Milan Records today releases the official opening and ending theme songs to the new story arc from season 2 of the hugely-popular anime series JUJUTSU KAISEN. Available everywhere now are new theme songs written specifically for the Shibuya Incident arc of the series, with Japanese band KING GNU providing the opening theme “SPECIALZ” and J-rock trio HITSUJIBUNGAKU contributing the ending theme “more than words.” The MAPPA-produced series originally made its season one debut in 2020, becoming an instant hit with fans and prompting the 2021 film prequel adaption Jujutsu Kaisen 0, which also was a blockbuster hit in theaters. Based on the manga by Gege Akutami, the Shibuya Incident arc of Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 premiered yesterday via Crunchyroll.

ABOUT JUJUTSU KAISEN SEASON 2
This is the innocent spring that the two strongest lost forever. Itadori Yuji took Ryomen Sukuna into his own body in June 2018. Okkotsu Yuta freed Orimoto Rika from her curse in December 2017. And now it's spring 2006. Gojo Satoru and Geto Suguru, two peerless jujutsu sorcerers from Jujutsu High, have been given two missions by Tengen, an immortal known as the cornerstone of the jujutsu community. One mission is the escorting and erasure of the "Star Plasma Vessel", Amanai Riko, the girl chosen as the best match to merge with Tengen. So the two of them set out on their escort mission in order to keep the jujutsu community going, but an assassin calling himself Fushiguro interferes in an attempt to assassinate the Star Plasma Vessel. The pasts of Gojo and Geto, the ones who would later be known as the most powerful jujutsu sorcerer and the most evil curse user, are about to be revealed…

ABOUT KING GNU
A four-piece band from Tokyo - Daiki Tsuneta (g/vo), Yū Seki (dr/sampler), Kazuki Arai (bass) and Satoru Iguchi (vo/k). They call their music “Tokyo New Mixture” where sensuality and their unique pop music sense are all blended. The mixture of music, visual art and performances builds universe truly one-of-a-kind. The band ventured into the major music scene in Jan 2019 with the album “Sympa”, followed by the smash hit of “Hakujitsu” in Feb. 2020 saw the album “CEREMONY” topped Japanese charts, continued enjoying long-term sales surpassing 500,000 copies, and developed the band into one of the leading bands in Japany. “Ichizu/Sakayume”, the opening/ending themes of “Jujutsu Kaisen the Movie” brought the band's first #1 on the singles chart. In Nov 2022, five years into their career, the band carried through their first two-day stint at Tokyo Dome.

From May thru June 2023, the band performed at large outdoor stadiums in Japan for the first time in a tour entitled “CLOSING CEREMONY” that culminated the “CEREMONY” album cycle. A total of four shows drew an audience of 230,000.

ABOUT HITSUJIBUNGAKU
hitsujibungaku are an alternative rock band consisting of vocalist and guitarist Shiotsuka Moeka, bassist Yurika Kawanishi, and drummer Hiroa Fukuda.

The group made their major label debut in 2020 from F.C.L.S., a label within Sony Music. Their 2nd major label album our hope was released in 2022 and won the CD Shop Awards Grand Prize. The same year, the group embarked on their first national tour, including Zepp music hall performances in five major cities, as well as their largest-ever concert date held in December at the Nakano-Sun Plaza in Tokyo. All of the shows on the tour, including the Nakano Sun Plaza date in Tokyo and the Zepp Namba in Osaka, were sold out.

Beginning September 2023, the group will embark on a solo tour of 12 shows across 10 locations throughout Japan, as well as a mainstage performance on the Fuji Rock Festival's Green Stage.

The band has also begun a full-scale overseas expansion, with tickets for their first overseas solo live performance at Taipei Legacy in Taiwan selling out in only 10 minutes. They are currently planning more overseas performances and major collaborations in the future, aiming for a further leap forward while making great strides.
