Introduction

This anime is based on the popular game STEINS;GATE, an installment in the "Science Adventure Series" of games. The game is so popular, in fact, that it has sold over one million copies. The game was adapted into a 24-episode anime in 2011, which was met with great critical reception. A film titled Steins;Gate: The Movie − Load Region of Déjà Vu opened in only 18 theaters throughout Japan in 2013, the number of theaters screening the film increased to 110 due to its great popularity. The film ended up selling over 400 thousand tickets for a total gross of 5.6 hundred million yen (about US$5.297 million).

Steins;Gate Zero, which will begin broadcasting in April, is based on the concept of "What if Rintaro Okabe had given up on saving Kurisu Makise in the Beta World Line during Steins;Gate?"

Story

Winter 2010, on the Beta World Line... This is the story of protagonist Rintaro Okabe in a world line in which, despite having experienced a great amount of pain and grief, he gave up on saving "her." Enveloped in despair, his comrades worry about him. What happened to "her," the one who couldn't be saved? This is the "zero" story of Steins;Gate featuring a number of new characters.
