Yes, I knew that the kanji weren't the same, but the kid was drawing what looked to me like manju, so I think the pun was kind of built-in to the episode. Smile

Apparently the anime is pretty close to the current end of the manga series, as the author took time off to write the movie script. I wouldn't be surprised to see the show go on hiatus for a while, but I seriously doubt it will end completely. It's hard to find ratings for anime these days, but in the past SB did pretty well in its late Saturday afternoon slot.

One thing that makes me think things are coming to a close soon is the poor quality of illustration in some parts of this episode. The facial closeups are good as always, but the rest is pretty unimpressive. Take a look around 8:00 where Kenji and Nitta walk around NASA for an example.

I want to see Mutta and Serika go shopping for cowboy hats and boots together.

Good episode. Glad things have worked out for Nitta and Kenji.

That's an impressive amount of detail and looks very much like a Wikipedia page. Although calling an asteroid a "miniplanet" is quite funny.

I did a Google search for 314225AN41, and all I get are Japanese discussions about Space Brothers!

I'm pretty sure miniplanet is a bad translation of "shouwakusei" (asteroid)...but I could be wrong.

Science almost always uses the word "micro," not "mini" anyway.

spoiler[So the brothers were having a family end of the year.
That was nice to see for a change.
Hibito was skeptical about going to the moon again.
His logic was sound, but I doubt they'll discard him so easily.
Mutta was doing another part of astronaut's work - mission control operative.
He is definitely moving up in the world.
On the other hand, the always-so-lucky Hibito is not so lucky anymore.]

There is actually an asteroid landing mission in the works. But the details are different. NASA is planning to use a robotic space craft to pull a 25 foot near-earth asteroid close to the moon and Astronauts will land on it when it gets to that position. The current plan is for somewhere between 2021 and 2025.

Um... Why the heck did the chief not spoiler[actually have an answer for Gates? It was the only conceivable reason for him to oppose Hibito returning, but he get all tongue-tied and confused from hearing it? As if it were a surprise? Oh well, maybe just maybe this will bring about the introduction of the tremendous glaring omission from this future era of space exploration. Almost 100 episodes and they have not once even mentioned private space exploration enterprises, and anyone that follows space exploration in the least knows how big it has been getting. If Hibito is blacklisted from NASA, he can get a job with an anime version of SpaceX or Virgin Galactic (complete with an anime versions of Elon Musk and Richard Branson!).]

Fukuda joined a private space enterprise as a rocket designer after not qualifying for astronaut training. At the time I thought Kenji might end up there if he washed out. As for Hibito, who knows?

For some reason I just thought of them as an engineering company, not a company with their own designs for sending up spaceships. But I guess that makes sense IIRC, they might have even had a name that resembled "SpaceX".

I thought that spoiler[the company that Fukuda was working for was developing rockets for JAXA and not a private company.]

spoiler[Parts of Mutta's & Hibito's childhood.
Mutta was obviously concerned about Hibito.
Hibito was dealing with it in his own way.
The situation is not looking good.
Well, kinda uneventful episode.]

But did you notice? At the endspoiler[ of the Mr. Hibbit short it said "The End" instead of "To be Continued."]

I keep thinking that they seem to be setting up the show for a hiatus, trusting the new summer's anime movie to keep it popular, but as far as I know there have been no announcements about it.
