so hyped for this. A day before my birthday....now if only I could get enough money to fly over there. I don't care that I'd only understand some of it Anime hyper. His movies generally speak a lot with actions anyway.

Song sounds great, to no surprise from a great band.

As usual, the art looks really mouthwatering.
I really hope Shinkai can work with KyoAni and together, they can make some really gorgeous art-driven series Laughing

It is going to be unspeakably beautiful; that is certain. I hope to hear more in the coming months.

The Garden of Words was a return to form for Shinkai, even if its climax was impaired by his choice of generic pop-music. It can only be hoped that the musical cues of this latest project match the visual riches that have become his forte. I shall be the first to admit that it looks overly familiar, though I would much rather accept more of the same than be subjected to another dreadful experiment like Children Who Chase Lost Voices.

Now I am tempted to schedule my trip to Japan for when this movie releases in theatre.

Welp, I'm planning to visit Japan this summer for Comiket, but with only a week to stay and the release date is more than a week after Comiket, I don't think I can watch the premier Sad Too bad, always a big fan of Shinkai's works (if any of you read ANN SEA article about his novels being licensed in Indonesia, I'm part of the people who works in that).

Love that PV. I've only see 3 Shinkai films, and this one looks to have some comedic moments, which will be something different for me. I don't remember many being in 5cms, Garden of Words, or Voices of a Distant Star.

Animelo Summer Live will be on 26-27-28 August - if "Kimi no Na wa" is showing at Movix Saitama it should be possible to see it without much of a detour (last year I saw "The Emperor in August", and in 2013 I saw "Kaze Tachinu / The Wind Rises" at Movix Saitama before Animelo Summer Live concerts).

Even without subtitles or Japanese language skills I appreciate seeing Japanese movies in Japan.

Interestingly, it looks like this work will be a comedy-drama mix, not the straight-up drama that its description seemed to infer, like most of Shinkai's work. Even though there are particular traits found among all of his titles, as well, I like that Shinkai has shown a willingness to expand and try different narrative and story types in his recent ones, as well as work with talent outside of his tried-and-true earlier circle. He could have easily kept everything within the vein of his first three works and still find success and accolades, but seeing him venture out beyond his comfort zone more (while still managing to retain that "Shinkai" feel) makes me appreciate him even more.

If they do this well, this movie might become my favorite of his! I'm excited!

This film so far looks amazing. Even the plot sounds interesting enough for me to watch it directly in Japan, even if I understand very little Japanese. It will be a painful wait for the Blu-Ray release...
