Uh... okay.

Should we preemptively lock this thread before things can get ugly?

This anime SHOULD NOT be used as Nationalist propaganda, it is not that kind of anime unlike Gate which was made with propaganda in mind like you could tell from the cover that it was such. Also, they should tone that down at least until Abe is voted out or leaves office somehow or the DPJ is the majority, you don't want the LDP getting anymore ideas because said ideas are going to result in the destruction of Japan (almost certainly by China).

Judging from the headline, I thought that the poster and/or the affiliation of anime and the JSDF was criticized, but it was only against the JSDF, by posing it on an anime poster. Even for an Interest article, it is barely anime-related, IMO.

I don't exactly keep up with world events, but why is Japan involved in a conflict in Africa?

I really have nothing to say about Haifuri being used, other than that at least Attack on Titan isn't being used (although the guy who put the tag probably would like that) and that Haifuri needs a dub.

At any rate, I at least hope that Japan can help restore peace to the newest country in the world. Since they are under orders from the UN, obviously the guy is misled into thinking they support the conflict. Kind of weird that Japan would have involvement though since they officially refused to ever declare war again after WWII. But again, I do hope peace can be obtained - it's not pretty when you're at the top of the FSI (Fragile States Index).

Having come from a military family, the idea of using moe anime girls to advertise recruitment is about as far removed from the reality of military conflict as you can get. It's a job of arms, not cutesy daydream delusions. Not many people understand what it means to feel so scared that you feel your soul leave your body just to escape the hell around it. This poster is repulsively naive.

The camera perspective in this picture is freaking me out. Main girl looks deformed.

But that's not on the orginal poster so why is it being criticized?? That makes no sense. Why blame the anime when someone put a post it note on it??

Better idea, how about we simply not poke at things and incite problems when there are none? I like that idea. Let's roll with with that idea.

I think that quote saying that it's easy to kill boy soldiers in South Sudan may have been the reason for the ire this military-themed poster of Haifuri has been receiving. I wonder what is the history between Japan and Sudan, anyhow?

The poster with the tag isn't being critcized (at least not in this article), the one who put the tag is criticising the act of recruiting. And the fact that they are trivializing war.

Certainly not what I expected the article to be about after reading the title. lol

Well, I'm actually glad that the anger was targeted toward something more substantial than someone guy annoyed about a moe girl. Though the situation in Sudan does not sound good at all. Sad

One could make the connection of the girls in the poster being depicted as children and then say the JSDF fights fire with fire (if you catch my drift).

Could Aniplex possibly become more of a 100% for the money shill company at this point. This is the second time at least they've collaborated with and clearly taken ad money from the JSDF after GATE. No wonder also that they missed the point of Gundam in trying to surpass it with that Aldnoah/Zero show, going by what happened with that they probably thought Gundam was supposed to be some sort of pro-war is cool anime that also made it look like some sort of video game cakewalk where nobody really seems to die. Garbage company I'm glad to seeing get called out more and more.

I feel like this article's title is rather misleading because they're not really criticizing the poster at all, just the Japanese military in general.
