Oh, yeah. This bit. Patrick Seitz actually threw his two cents about the matter on his Facebook page. And to summarize what he said to the dismissive sub-purists in case this wasn't already obvious, dub voice actors do actually give a crap about this sort of thing.

for the record Aksys says themselves "there is a chance the dub will happen" https://twitter.com/aksysgames/status/769315786175361024 they said if we sign this https://www.change.org/p/aksys-games-support-the-dub-for-blazblue-central-fiction I should tell in just 3 days we got over 2,860 if we can get around 5,000 A dub could have a fighting chance and come as DLC.
Also it would very awesome if ANN posted this petition so that people could show support. Last edited by dark13 on Thu Sep 01, 2016 2:16 am; edited 1 time in total |

This is weird. Has BlazBlue not been selling or something?

Voice acting is not very important in video games. Don't worry about it. As long as the gameplay is fluid and the controls are tight, it doesn't matter.

Yeah, for that matter, who needs color? Anything other than gray-scale is an unnecessary extravagance! That's why Shadowgate for the Apple Macintosh is the best game ever made! ...wait, that game has graphics, those aren't important either. Better make it Zork II: The Wizard of Frobozz for the PDP-10. |

Aww. That sucks. I'm super in love with the English dub of Blazblue. I hope they bring it in sometime later.

Well... it can be worst. At least it's not only dub, like Persona 5.

That's interesting, especially since it seems like a number of recent and upcoming western releases of "notable" Japanese games have left out the original voice acting entirely in exchange for an English dub. I guess it does swing both ways since #FE comes to mind as a recent example of the opposite.
Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places, but it feels like dual audio is getting rarer as of late. |

While I do think Blazblue had one of the better dubs, I wish more companies would do this. Especially with anime. After Chuunibyou's original bluray release got pushed back several months to add a dub for it, my hatred for dubs just grew a lot more. The fact that the dub was awful in that case didn't help at all. In this case, the dub is actually really good....but I have to say that Patrick Seitz is being really unprofessional about it. I also find is argument to not be fully valid. Yes, people enjoy Blazblue for the story. However, I've never met anyone that actually sits there and listens to every single line in it's entirety. That takes too long for most. People enjoy the voices, but only for a short while. Most people end up just reading the text and pressing "X" before the voices can catch up.

People often complain about secondary dubs anyways, so why bother to do it if you're not sure you will recoup the costs? If the game is profitable enough, a dub may follow, but not right now.
I support the decision to release the game to waiting fans as soon as possible. |

BlazBlue is one of the few series where I won't play subbed, partially because it's a fighting game and there are no subs outside cutscenes, but mostly because BB uses a bunch of English words as the random terminology for stuff, which just gets confusing and annoying as all hell if you only ever play dubbed.
I'll be skipping out on this release and hope Extend gets dubbed when it comes out. |

Well then we won't get a dub at all if a bunch of people won't buy it because the first edition doesn't include a dub. |

Video games by definition require graphics. Of course graphics are somewhat important. Bad graphics can interfere with stage manoeuvring, as James Rolfe demonstrates. But you can't compare voice acting in video games to poor controls or mediocre gameplay. It's not comparable. Especially in fighting games. If the controls and gameplay sucks, then it's a bad game no matter how "good" the voice acting is. |

I find this is the opposite in my experience. Most people I know do sit through all the dialogue on a first play-through, only skipping by accident or if something about the performance annoys them. For me personally, that'd be like asking for the film script because sitting through the film would take too long. |
