If Sony follow Nintendo, will we get a new version of PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2( the first version)?

I know this is not yet to call as classic console but it would be nice to have a new version. Scale down PS1 and PS2 size and ditch CD/DVD slot. I would buy this. Btw I still got perfectly working PS1 & PS2 at home but it refused to play back disc game even though the disc is not badly scratched. Sony, please...

The scalpers are having a field day with the NES Mini selling out so fast; in fact, there's even a report of the console literally being sold out in seconds in the Gulf Coast.

I couldn't agree more. I myself have very fond memories of PS1 games. I personally like to look at games with a Japanese feel to them whether its Final Fantasy or even Ape Escape.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

It would have the same caveats as this system does i.e. you can't play certain games.

I doubt so. Making mini PS1 or PS2 will similar to Vita TV but PS1/PS2 game comparability is better than Vita TV since its originally a home console than handheld .

Even if you were to do that you'd still likely not be able to play your Mortal Kombat Deceptions, Naruto Ultimate Ninjas, or other certain games for specific reasons.

My sincere apologies for reviving an old topic, but I've just found out that even giant retail stores like Walmart are getting into the NES Mini scalping business. Before they immediately ran out of stock, they once sold what little number of units Nintendo supplied them at nearly $500 (see 4:22 in the video)!
