You mean Prince Sincline, oh right sorry, this isn't Go Lion.

I haven't gotten around to watching the new Voltron yet; with wanting to see the original Go Lion first (which I finish a couple of weeks ago), and getting wrap up with things, but I would had thought they had introduce Sincline (or Lotar as they are calling him in the show), by now. I am kind of surprise their is even a third season. I guess I was assuming this show was complete by now.

On another note he looks impressive so far. At least I can trust that Dreamworks is going to be more consistent with his character design unlike Toei back in the day. In the original at some episodes his face would look different.

I wonder if Japan is just shocked that we are continuing on with this thing, it's not like GoLion ever did. Not that it really could. But it got one show and then ended it and that was it. They wrapped basically everything up at the end of Golion leaving really no way for a sequel series. I guess America will never let Beast King Golion/Voltron die. I'm sure the creators of Go Lion are just sitting there perplexed at us reviving it.
Also knowing now the character of Prince Sincline from the original show, I really can't watch Lotar much without remembering how bloodthirsty he was in the Japanese version, always killing his own henchmen and being an awful boss.

Pretty positive that Voltron on Netflix was ordered for 8 seasons. Though I do question the seasons length since S3 is is like, 7 episodes long and then they are doing another 7 episodes in October.

I'm wondering if they regret ordering the show for so many seasons and are trying to wrap it up. I mean, I'm not complaining. I enjoy the show but I also never watched the original version.

I don't know, but from what I've learn Voltron ended up being more popular here then GoLion in Japan, which I imagine why Dreamworks decided to make an updated version of the show or whatever you call it. As for Sincline he was a terrible person, but it has been so long since i have seen Voltron that I barely remember how the the show was; let alone how most of the character are portray. Is Lotar like a less terrible person to his original counterpart?

From what I remember they toned Sincline down significantly, he couldn't kill anyone and the henchmen he killed were usually turned into robots. Also the other messed up stuff about him was pretty much erased for Voltron, he wasn't nearly as psychotic and more just a hammy Saturday morning cartoon bad guy. Also the whole ending with his character and his actions towards the end of the show again, jettisoned pretty much. Then again basically Voltron jettisoned all the sacrifice, sadness and brutality out of GoLion anyway.

I see. For me I find it odd that season 7 and 8 are only going to be 7 episodes long (at least from what you are applying). The original GoLion lasted for 52 episodes and as Code anime puts it, the anime ended on a high note with no reason for them continuing with a sequel. The show had a monster of the day format, and sometimes the animation was faulty, but I thought the story was good. It also had songs that were typical of the kind of show it was, but they had a charm to it that I like. This is the best I could explain how the original was. You can watch it on Crunchyroll. Just type in GoLion in the search.

Also for this type of show, GoLion was actually surprisingly very bleak and brutal about some things. Which was rather off putting since they had things like cheerful little mice that did funny things and other moments where the show was rather cheerful and like a typical kids show. Even the ending of the show was rather weirdly peaceful and cheery after a whole ending episode of death and destruction.

Oh,I forgot how brutal the show was when it came to portraying just how terrible the Galra Empire was. Thanks for pointing that out, Codeanime.

Maybe? Season 2 was like, 13 episodes. Season 1 was 11. That why I feel like their numbering system for episodes is a little weird. It would of made more sense to release all 14 episodes at once instead of spreading them apart by 2 months.

I also love that Prince Sincline is voiced by a pre-Kenshiro Fist of the North Star, Pre-City Hunter but Post- Space Captain Harlock and Space Battleship Yamato Akira Kamiya. And he plays one of the most evil characters in his whole entire voice acting career.

Not to be too nitpicky but this is Voltron, not Beast King Golion that Netflix has brought back. Voltron was a product of its time and even with it clear flaws by today's standards it left a pretty good mark on those that remember it from the 80's. Loved Voltron as a kid and am looking forward to more of Netflix's take on it. Hoping to finally see Sven show up since Shiro has gone missing. Still miss the horrible over the top Scandinavian accented character from the original series and this would be the perfect time to bring him back. Even just to have Lotor kill him in the same episode.
