This was one of my favorite series the season it came out. I'm a fan of the manga because the couples except for the main one are refreshingly different than what I see in other shoujo. I can't remember what was shown of Mari's relationships in the anime, but in the books it's pretty clear that she's not a lesbian; she's just overly dependent on her one friend and needs to learn to grow out of it and does with new friends she makes being a part of that group. The portrayal of the sadist and masochist couple and the otaku couple are my favorite because they're honest and the only games they play are ones they consent to. I like that the focus was on the guys in the story and that they had characters bigger than their tropes. I'm still reading the manga and enjoying it so I guess that says something too.
