Nooooooooooooooooo. Anime cry
Even if by chance it's an anime announcement (it's not) losing this manga is just a punch in the gut. It's just so good and Kiseki Himura brings so much charm to the story that really puts the novels on another level.
Yen Press just release volume 6 today too, now I'll be depressed while I read it. Anime cry
I had already sorta been bracing myself for this as Himura started getting more and more work but man, still so sad.

I haven't read the manga... though it doesn't surprise me since the LNs only have 4 volumes. They can't just go and make content up as they go.

Honestly, I'd have preferred Kawahara to pen volume 5 last year than work on that movie. Movie was pretty weak, fan service fodder that didn't really add much to the series.

The manga will likely end with the third volume (and I'm pretty sure it'll be rushed so they can end it there and not in the middle of it), it'd still take at least another year to adapt volume 4 and with volume 5 around the corner, there'd be 1.5~2 years worth of content counting from now, at which point volume 6 would likely be released and when the manga caught up to that it'd probably need a bit of a break.

You have to be kidding me..
I waited 8 months to get the 6th volume of the manga (the recent one). I was so excited to read this because this manga is really enjoyable and then I get this news.. ugh
Hopefully there will be an anime adaptation announcement.

Oh man this is super sad news. I was really enjoying this adaptation Sad It sucks that it's just flat out 'ending' instead of just being on hiatus till more novels come out.

Asked someone who read the magazine page about this (and who posted about this on the @sao_wikia twitter account). The magazine doesn't explicitly say the manga is ending, or at least it's not super clear.

Quote:
That wasn't outright confirmed. Mostly an assumption. That's why I didn't post about that just yet.
The only thing on the magazine was a small bubble that said 'final time (chapter?)' withoutn much context. That doesn't confirm that the manga itself is ending - could just be the final chapter of an arc or the manga moving to a different magazine.
Hence, I only posted that some announcement is planned for the next issue of the magazine.

Did they say anything about the LN ending? Has he even written the next novel I know he was working on the movie.

I feel the same way, man. Progressive's manga has been my favorite iteration of SAO's first arc. It enhances the world with all the smaller side stories and character development.

The series will also have an important announcement and feature on the issue's front cover.

Hopefully the announcement will be that Kiseki Himura is adapting another arc of SAO.

The next volume of the LN should be out on the 10th. He's been posting updates online for a couple months now.
