I don't think it should be to hard to follow most of Baki is a fighting tournament. All you need to know is Baki made some friends fighting and his Father is an insane narcissistic psychopath. |

More or less what Brand said to be honest lol. The characters' backgrounds and the story aren't massively important, and past viewers could easily whip up a short rundown of the principle cast if the anime doesn't give new viewers a recap. Really, the entire manga is a vehicle for the nuttiest of fights, and this arc's probably the highlight of the series.
