Oh wow, I've only watched the subbed version of the series but I remember reading that people were really upset with the quality of the dub. I'm surprised Netflix did anything but it's awesome that dub watchers will get a (hopefully) better dub to watch now.

Honestly as bad as it was, it didn't sound THAT much worse than most other dubs.

This is good to hear. It's not like Netflix hasn't been able to hire studios to produce good dubs before, and it has the financial means to do it, so it came off as something done to save money with the attitude of "we're a big company, so we don't need to care what anime fans think," Considering the talks of Netflix getting more and more active in anime, the prospect of them cutting corners was concerning. Other big companies have tried their hands at the anime business with a blase attitude, and they bailed pretty quickly.

Its not like anyone takes you ever serious about your hate for dubs mate. And honestly why do you keep posting on dub related topics? We get it, you hate dubs.

Honestly I never had a complaint to the old dub of the series... but then again I have way to much anime on my plate to remember it

I hope they do the same with dubs in other languages, like the Little Witch Academia's Latin American Spanish dub, which was very criticized and with an awful translation, thick Chilean accents, etc.

This has been on my radar, so I'm glad I can watch it dubbed, I saw a few clips of the old one and there was no way I was touching that with a ten foot poll.

One of the actors who was in the original dub responded on Reddit regarding the situation.

https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/9m6wkn/aico_incarnations_has_been_redubbed_on_netflix/e7e6005/

Apparently they had done a lot of retakes, almost half the show, but Netflix didn't use any of them.

I'm impressed that Netflix responded to criticism of the original, poorly received English dub by commissioning a brand new dub! Has an anime series ever been re-dubbed by the same company this fast before? Wow!

So, who's in the BangZoom! cast?

You've been warned before about making pointless and trollish comments in dub specific threads. I sent you a final warning in PM's back in August to stop it, and the consistent ANN is anti-loli soapboxing. Since you have continued you're now on moderation.

i suggest everyone else move on now. Thank you.

I can't think of any instance like this. Usually re-dubs happen many years later after a license has changed hands. Otherwise it tends to be touch-ups and corrections. Not too many companies in the business could afford to redo the whole thing.

I guess as one of the only couple of real Netflix co-produced originals they had to do this to avoid a bad reputation

I wish they could redub Attack On Titan, sadly they don't own the rights to that series. Sigh the dub is horrible too.

Whoa, whoa! You trying to make marshmallows with that roast!?

But seriously, I find it amusing that Netflix won't comment on their reasons when literally everyone hated the dub and thought it was a horrible, horrible mess. Just goes to show that the entertainment industry will never admit to making mistakes. Right, AMC?
