As someone who was once an avid player's guide collector back in the '90s, this is an expected, but still unfortunate turn of events.

It was bound to happen, a bit of a shame though, it does have some advantages over using an online guide.

Especially with a game that has pre-set maps or dungeons or whatever! For that matter, I always thought of them more as art books anyways!

Prima was hit or miss back in the day. Half the time they were flat out wrong about stuff.
I've been importing Japanese guide books for years now. They're a lot nicer and usually officially endorsed by the game company. Plus they come in hard-cover versions or at least dusk jacket versions which is nice and are a lot more detailed with artwork and info.

And nowadays, a lot of games have dedicated artbooks, so printed strategy guides have become even more redundant!
Feels like the end of an era, but I was never big into guides and tend to go to GameFAQs or certain other sites on the rare occasions that I need to look something up *shrug*

I just about wore out my Myst and Riven Prima guides. They were written in a really fun style, too. Thanks for almost three decades of getting gamers un-stumped.

Truly a shame. I've had a large collection of Prima strategy guides for many years now. It's going to be sad to no longer see their guides anymore.

While printed strategy guides looked good, and I actually enjoyed and bought tons of them, some had questionable quality as actual guides, I still remember the official FFX one...
Evrae Boss (on the airship): Keep fighting till your limit break gauge on Yuna is full, then summon your aeons to finish it off!
yep, I'll go back to gamefaqs for the guide, and will still buy the artbooks; though it's a shame, since those guides doubled as artbooks too.

I loved their guides, and they were way more conveient than online faqs or videos, especially for collectables and being able to mark in the book where Assassins creed collectibles were already found, never saw a way to do that easily with online guides or videos
I guess buying eguides and ebooks wasnt cutting it.

Prima never made good guides anyway, at least as far as Pokémon, one of the main series I play, is concerned.

I believe the last Prima guide I bought was for Tales of Berseria. Or was it FInal Fantasy XV? Whichever came out last. Pretty sure Tales. Their hardcover editions often come with nice art prints and a lot of extra stuff like concept galleries and staff interviews, which bring great insight to the game worlds.
Sad to see them go.

Berseria didn't have a strategy guide. Its undeserving predecessor Zestiria did though.

I'm surprised anyone is shocked, they never release guides on time, often a month after the games release, completely moronic and clearly a cost cutting scheme devised by a strategically challenged person.
They got what was coming.
Hopefully a better company, who can release guides on time, will take over for Pokemon. Nonsense that they are releasing the let's go guides 3 weeks late.
