Doesnt help that companies like viz INCREDIBLY overprice manga. This new jump plus app they have is the best deal they've ever done and it's still missing thousands of titles japanese manga apps would have.

Buying manga/anime officially is very expensive. I do not understand why it still is so expensive even though anime has become mainstream and has more self sustainability. I do not find the prices of manga (15-20 EUR per volume) and anime (70-100 EUR per BD vol) to be fair. I understand supporting the work and the author is crucial in order to keep publishing but I would only buy the works that have a special place in my heart. Also digital isn't appealing to me, it doesn't even feel like I own that content.

Wow, he looks like such a not nice guy. Amazing and inspiring. Quite thoughtful too, considering that scanlations are exactly what gives initial publicity to the works without anime adaptations.

Has anyone read this and is it any good? I was thinking about purchasing it from amazon to help support. It looks interesting, any thoughts?

Overprice? It like $9.99 for the book and $6.99 for digital. That isn't overpriced, the reason for the price is because of translation and it has more paper then the Japanese Tankōbon. A US comic from DC or Marvel cost you $3.99 for like 32 pages, but Manga cost $9.99 for around 150 pages.
Also, Manga Plus is Shueisha and the reason Viz haven't put more Manga on it yet because they have to make a new agreement with the rights holders. Ok, you like reading free. Stop making excuses

Honestly it really depend on your preference on parody and tolerance on over-the-top violence, if an extreme foul-mouthed, clearly-for-comical-purpose Mary Sue protagonist does not bother you, then by all means, give a try.

its actually good (no real deep plot but they are enjoyable and its ncie seeing another non kid friendly magical girl)

cute girl made into magical girl, turns out she is a smoker, extremely violent, and abusive (to magical creature and a guy who becoemsh er slave basically <_<)

eventually gets a rival magical girl who wants to defeat ehr for reasons and a 3rd magical girl that is actually evil and wants to eat her (literally)

i plan to buy it if i find it in any of my local shops.

I'm an artist too so I always try to support manga when I can. I really hope that more backlogs are added to Viz's Shonen Jump app and Shuiesha's Manga Plus app. People will be far less likely to pirate manga if it's readily available.

However with that said, the issue of piracy is still a complicated one. It's most prevalent in titles that are released long after the Japanese version. Simultaneous publication needs to become an industry standard in this day and age.

I've read people describe it like borrowing from a library however, at least the library pays to have those books come in. The problem is that people think that they are entitled to things that they like but there isn't any justification for it. I use these sites if the product doesn't have an English release and purchase it if it gets one. If the manga is in English I never read it on a scanlation site as I feel that it undercuts the creator. That's why I haven't read One Piece in 2 or so years while I haven't been able to afford manga.

If people really love manga then they should appreciate the work that creators put into it and find a way support it instead of expecting free things simply because they're a fan. If a creator stops writing because if this then those who pirated the works have themselves to blame.

The best way to counter this is for more manga to get licenced so that they can appear in the west.

Anime isn't mainstream. Just because people know of it more now than in the past it doesn't make it any less niche.

Mare Sue? how in the world does that describe her? Especially considering you just described a Non-Mary Sue in the same sentence.
