What the hell? I've never heard of this Hentai before, I've heard of smoking aces and was planning on seeing it this weekend. I guess I am going to have to pay extra attention to what's going on screen now. Other then everyone trying to Jeremery Piven

As soon as he win an oscar on his own then he can get his named spelled right . It's rated R I believe, makes ya wonder if there going to be a cutaway of what's on screen or it's just that you can see it in the background on a tv set.
Edit: According to IMDB they have him listed as Ben Affleck......aka "Matt's friend" |

I'm so glad for this chance to expose mainstream movie-goers to anime. I'll tell all my family, coworkers, and church friends to go see this movie, so they'll stop criticizing my hobby. Hooray for dispelling misconceptions and cleaning up the public image of anime!

You do know they said Hentai right? I am hoping that internet sarcasm, because I don't think the church folks are gonna want to see naked animated character or a movie with lots of violence in it..... |

Yep, sarcasm. I tried to drive it home with that last line there, but as you say, it's the internet. Some of it gets lost in the textifization. I'm really not trying to be overly emo-cynical and snappy-judgemental, but I can't help but get annoyed that the "all anime is porn" crowd will have one more thing to point at. |

Yup the church guys are most likely not gonna want to se anything like that,  Hentai is cool and all, but people who unfamiliar to anime are gonna think "whoa...so is this...that anime that they speak of?" maybe some[guys] might actually like it , and some moms and church people would definitely be like "  how despicable" . imagine if princess 69 was included in there?  lol

See that why we need a sarcasm button, and then your text looks different that way we all know.....because there been too many times on this forum I've thought someone was joking.....and wasn't. Lastly like you noted it bother me when hentai is in mainstream media since then it only further the stereotype that anime is nothing but porn....and makes me lower my head in shame when someone talks about anime. |

Honestly, I've never understood the concern about anime being misconstrued as pornography in general. I've seen the part of Clerks, or whatever the movie was, where the comic book proprietor runs after the kid in the back of the room yelling "you better not be ****ing off to the japanese pornos".... but when I was growing up, the one and only way in which I was teased was for "watching Pokemon"; not living up to my age group's entertainment medium standards.
Is this because of where I live or something? Do many people actually hear this criticism outside of movies and the internet? Has anyone here gotten it personally? Changing subject, what does "prominently featured" mean? Anime DVDs hardly seem like a normal object of desire for the cast of an American action movie. I guess so. I mean, I thought I'd found a medium through which stories were told - some mature, some juvenile. But all those people who say "that damn Poh Key Mon" is a danger to America's youth can't be wrong, right? Oh well, time to go self-flagellate... |

Seriusly though what is with them in playing hentai in the background...I mean I like hentai but it isn't good for the image of anime as a whole. Most people already think of it as cartoon porn. By the way I plan on watching Smoking Aces it seems like it will be good from the previews. |

Most of my school thinks that, my folks, girlfriend folks, my co-workers. Well at least they think most of anime is porn related. It's one of realities is that lots of people think anime is porn. And although there are some great anime it's always going to be though of as porn where older men want to have sex with little girls.....or boys. One of co-workers even made a joke once about porn, and then say "were actually watching anime porn, the worse kind." So I do think lots of people have this notions that anime really is vastly porn related, think about when NBC bust the predator and their houses always seem to have kiddie porn or anime porn. |
