This reminds me of when King's Raid had its BDs cancelled over "various circumstances".

Blue Reflection Ray must be pulling abysmal numbers if they aren't even willing to give it the boxed set treatment.

So that's pretty sad, as one of the few people who enjoys this anime. I tend to collect the anime I like on bluray. So if there is no home video release in Japan, I doubt Funimation will make one in America.

From my experience, in order to really enjoy Blue Reflection Ray. You have to had played the game and ended up really liking it. The episodes move at a very slow pace and while I really emphasized with the main cast, they don't really appeal to everyone.

I've found several people calling this show boring and confusing. Though I'll admit the animation can be stilted. As whole it's a niche show based off a niche game that only appeals to a very limited audience.

Subs arent appearing on the latest episode and now this. Guess that's a pretty clear sign to drop the series.

This is how anime becomes lost media, I'll give this 10 years before you see videos listing this anime as lost media all because of no disc release.

I loved this anime but it's a shame that the work is not very well known to the general public...

i'm guessing that's because of low ratings? didn't watched this one as I didn't want to spoil myself the game, so can't even tell if the show sucked or not, pretty interesting case tho.

Easy to guess what the "various circumstances" is. While IMO the show is merely average, not bad in a bad way, audience at large seems to be thinking otherwise. The preorders must've been so low a physical release is not financially viable.

Yeah, I also think it's safe to assume that preorders for this show are abysmal as well, and I get why. The story is fairly decent in the 1990s magical girl kind of way, but man the pacing is rather lethargic. I do wonder if this is going to affect any of the Blue Reflection future games Gust has planned for.

Man that's unfortunate, I happen to be enjoying BRR but the ratings seem to be really bad. I'd say hopefully something will change but BDs being cancelled is pretty damning.

Wait, there's a game for this?

It's certainly a more "subdued" series than is typical, but that's probably part of why I've been enjoying it so far. It's very disappointing to hear it's not doing so hot, but hopefully things change for it. I know my personal tastes tend to deviate wildly from the braoder fandom, but it would stink for a show like this to sink.

I don't really get why they decided to make this into a series instead of giving Atelier another shot given the success of Ryza. Really seems like they put all their chips into a borderline pointless endeavour.

I'm not disparaging those who enjoy it, I'm sure both the game and anime are perfectly fine, but I don't think the franchise had the audience for a successful anime.

That's clearly been born out now. I would guess they were trying to gamble on the anime promoting the series, and thus further games. But you weren't going to get that from this turgid show, it really isn't going to garner new fans.

I'm still reeling from the fact this got two cours. Seemed like such a risk on an almost un-known game, even when before the reality of it's failure was apparent. I say this as someone who is watching and mildy enjoying it. It is getting better, although not to the point I'd say it's worth a new comers time. But even now I stuggle to see it being able to fill another cour without really padding it's ideas out.
