Well glad to hear that the subtitles will hold up to the actual saying for When They Cry and with an actual release date now, I'm even happier. Very Happy

On a side note, glad to see Geneon putting out more of these classic things. I've wanted to check out Doki Doki School Hours for a while now...

The steel case the special release will be packaged in will also contain an exclusive 200-page artbook that was prepared specifically for US fans.

Wow 200 page? That's awesome I figured that it would have like 20 pages, I am really glad I've got that on preorder.

Great to hear that Black Lagoon actually has a release date, I really hope that this one is actually in stone; I am not sure if I could wait for another delay. Actually more then anything I really want to see what this special case looks like, I am thinking it will be similar to the Read or Die Artbook.

What they passed around at the panel is a metal slimcase with space for the four discs (two on each side), pretty much like the one used for the collector's edition version of FFXII, if that tells you anything.

Regarding the Tenchi Muyo packs, have there been any announced plans to sell the original OVAs as a thinpack or for a discounted price? I find it stunning that a series that's been on shelves so long (for over a decade now) can only be bought in a collection for over $100 and still not include the "Mihoshi Special" volume. Looking at prices on TRI, it would actually be cheaper to buy the normal DVDs individually, and at most I would miss out on a few special features items.

I'm quite surprised by their aquisition of Zero no Tsukaima (although not as much as I was for Innocent Venus) -- I suppose I shouldn't be since it stars the two leads from Shana (all hail Kugimiya Rie, Queen of Tsundere ;- ).

I really hope that if these sorts of series gain in popularity we might actually see the novels they're based on here as well. I'm sure I'm not the only one waiting for the Suzumiya Haruhi novels or Saiunkoku Monogatari to be licensed, and I'm sure if more fans knew about the books their favourite series are based on they'd be willing to purchase them as well. Probably. We're sometimes a rather frugal lot, aren't we. Wink

Wonderful, I know exactly what your talking about. I have the Appleseed release that has (I assume) that same metal case and it really looks sleek with art on the front. Thanks for the update.

Meh. ZnT was a so-so series and not something I'm particularly interested in.

I want MariMite and Nanoha. There is little doubt they have MariMite at this point, but I guess they are saving that (and hopefully Nanoha too) for a later, bigger convention (like AnimeExpo).

I also thought the Hellsing artbook would be very "sparse" in its offerings...but 200 pages Shocked.I may pick up Zero no Tsukaima based on how I like the second season. Series like Zero usually tend to go a predictable (albeit enjoyable) route.

The Rozen Maiden box looks freakin' sweet. I have Rozen Maiden, BL, and Haruhi arriving next month. May couldn't be a better time. Very Happy

yeah I was wondering about that too. It is kind of wierd that they are releasing them all expect the first series.

What I want to know is why it's taking so long for G-USA to put out the Hellsing OAV discs? I understand you need to produce a dub, secure materials, get everything approved and what not, but I also though since they were co-producing it, they could you know, get these things faster and out in less than one damn year!

Maybe there's this exclusive thing for Japan where Geneon has to wait a while before releasing the OAVs in the US...

You know... like, to prevent reverse-importation or something.

But I dunno.

Just speculation of course, but maybe they are taking so long because they just can't find anything else really to add to the second disk in the special edition and are still looking in order to make it actually worth the price. Here they promise not only the DVD but also an extras disk, that's two entire disks for what is basically just a 40 minute episode. How many extras can they really add? Especially when they are trying to charge $50 for it.

Why are you complaining about this at all when the third episode barely came out in Japan just now and it's pretty clear that Geneon is staggering the release so that we don't all have to wait 8 months in between releases.

Because for some people, bitching about the price of anime is their *actual* fandom---watching it is secondary. Smile

This crazy expectation that stuff will instantly come out in Japan and here, without waiting, and that it'll be $20 max here for 3-4 episodes while it's $50+ for a 1-2 episodes in japan? It's getting old.

He wasn't bitching about the price. That was me. And I made that post more jokingly and than anything. I'm just not good at jokes so it always comes out wrong Confused . I was trying to be humorous as to possibly why it may be taking Geneon so long to get Hellsing Ultimate released and saying the price of the LE may be why they are so focused on that. (When I have to explain the joke and why it was supposed to be a joke, I know I'm really bad at making them Embarassed )

Steventheeunuch is upset about the length of time it takes for the disks to be released. He'd probably pay the same price as Japan if he could get them at the same time as the Japanese release. I would, even without the extras. I want to buy the second and third episodes soon too.
