All these 'person X has covid, they're fine but they have it!' stories are just encouraging endless paranoia/panic (bizarrely this is especially so among vaccinated Americans who can't seem to accept that they're fine now) - if someone is seriously ill or dead, that's a story. Someone just having covid is not a story, everyone is going to get covid eventually. The media needs to start being more measured with these things (yeah, fat chance)

One reason these cases are news in Japan is that less than 40% of Japan's population have received their second vaccination shots. The main cause is not hesitancy, but the country's slow vaccine rollout so far.

Another issue is the critical shortage of hospital beds for COVID-19 patients, which has resulted in the government directing all but severely ill patients to recuperate at home. This has caused problems when patients with mild to moderate symptoms suddenly take a turn for the worse.

Yeah, like I said, people being seriously ill is news, people simply testing positive or generally unwell is not. I didn't comment on those stories, I commented on ones like this.

Before COVID-19, ANN reported when cast or staff members have to cancel events or assignments due to sickness. The nature of COVID-19 entails that patients, regardless of severity, miss two weeks of work.
