Maybe One Punch Man and Robotech can be done, too.

Oh my god. This actually looks amazing. I am stunned. This looks like peak tokusatsu and I am here for it. Sadly I feel like this will flop because it is leaning into that direction. I really hope I'm wrong on this!!

This actually doesn’t look too bad. They went full anime with the fight scenes and that’s the only way it should be.

I think if this has come out before Dragonball Evolution the excitement would be there for it given the people doing the choreography and that it clearly is embracing the more fantastical.

Post Dragonball Evolution? It’s not getting a warm reception. I think it can work from the teaser I’ve seen, but can and will are two different things.

Toei will do anything to avoid putting the anime back on streaming with that good Netflix dub. Movie looks like hot trash.

Robotech is never gonna happen. Hackmoney Gold can talk all they want, that thing is going to keep being passed around from writer to writer until there's no one left who cares.

On its own, the teaser is OK, it just doesn't give me Saint Seiya vibes yet.

I'm absolutely fine with live-action movies only being very loooooooooose adaptations / their own interpretations of the source material.

There's literally almost no one left who so much as remembers Dragonball Evolution.

I can't imagine this movie being a huge hit, at least in the US market, but I suppose in some regions where Saint Seiya is known, like Latin America and parts of Europe, it might draw some attention. It can see it being successful in China, where Saint Seiya is popular and where the movie is being produced.

I wouldn't go that far (it's still the poster child for Hollywood Fails To Tap Into Anime Market), but it was 13 years ago, at the dawn of the simulcast era. A lot of current anime fans weren't even alive then.

I hope the avoid doing the same stuff of the CGI film where they shoved up all 12 Gold Saints in 2 hours. They could do less Gold Saints.

Looks like they're actually using the Cloths, which is nice, although they seem inspired by the CG movie take on them. Does Seiya have a helmet? I can't tell.

Also is that Capricorn attacking Sagittarius?

Is that character at 0:15 supposed to be Ikki?

Also Athena's accurate and Seiya's accurate training outfit. I'm cautiously optimistic.

They talked about this being a film saga so they're not going to adapt Sanctuary in this film.

You’re both right. It was a long time ago, but it’s still the go-to example of the bad adaptation (although Netflix Bebop seems to be getting referenced as well).

I still think as far as anime adaptations go, we never got a truly iconic scene where someone could go “They get it, this can work.” Superman The Movie was arguably that for comic book movies (“You got me?! Who’s got you?!”) and if not, Batman (“What are you?!” “I’m Batman.”)

I’m not saying this movie will be bad, there’s actually a decent amount of talent behind it here including the actors and the stunt team behind Shang Chi. But we still haven’t gotten that moment to erase the Evolution stigma.

The CGI looks decent, but can they (or rather, their wallet) maintain it for the most of the movie?

If Immortals could do it with 75mil, surely Toei could too.... right?
