Plans can change. OP was initially meant to end after Albasta but it kept going. I doubt jjk will end next year but we shall see.

Sounds like he is going for Kenjaku as final villain for now.

Still, I wonder if he might make a spinoff about whatever happened in Kenya since that was so random.

I believe I read somewhere that the author had endings in mind for some characters, so it seems like he was planning to end it at the right point.

I like it when an author doesn't milk it.

It's usually for the best quality-wise when that happens.

Another Jump series that's going to end a bit too quickly for my tastes. Actively harmed Kimetsu no Yaiba for me and I hope Jujutsu Kaisen doesn't go the same way given the plethora of world building it can do with its setting, but ultimately it is just a battle manga first and foremost.

I really want a long running series again that sets you on a long adventure since Jump doesn't seem to have one outside of One Piece unless I'm missing one currently going.

Well, yeah Kenjaku wasn't that explored that much since he is quite surprise villain to the point he has as depth as Muzan now that you say it. When I learned about Kenjaku's origins in folklore, I was surprised he is related with Sugawara, Gojo's and Yuta's predecessor. Even Gojo was removed from the plot for like 11 volumes. I guess another author could a spin-off series to focus on another characters who didn't get much depth.

With Kimetsu no Yaiba, I forget whether Koyoharu Gotouge was having a health issue or just wanted to finish the story very quickly. There was a reason that it had moved into the final arc and I forget what it was.

JJK, though, I would be fine with ending after the current arc, if we're are actually there. There's lots of story that could be told, but I'd rather not have another arc after this one with a new enemy, a la Black Clover or Bleach.

Not sure how much of the manga the first season covered (and of course how much the second season will), but if it's ending that soon, hopefully we can see it all animated

The first season ended a few chapters into Volume 8 of the manga, and this season will likely end up a few chapters into Volume 16, almost an equal amount of material. For reference, there are currently 21 volumes available in Japan as of this month.

Hunter x Hunter. I don't think these artist want to do these long running series anymore. They've seen what happens to their predecessors that do. Kubo burnt out towards the end of Bleach, Togashi burnt out towards the end of YYH, Ishida was a mess into Tokyo Ghoul, Miura of course. I think there is a shift in the workload of manga artist and that it isn't sustainable long term for everyone.

Thanks! If it finishes in about a year, maybe they can wrap things up in ~36 episodes, which seems like it would be able to get completely animated.
