Carol has been /r/manga's mascot since 2016, and she's so popular there that when the fan-coloring of the manga got to the page introducing her, instead of the strip's original heading "The school's idol", the colorist changed the title of her post to "The r/manga Idol".

Something the anime left off was the reason why Misuzu and her mom distrust Carol (and I am placing it in spoiler because the series may reference it later):

spoiler[Misuzu's dad has the same "I am fluffy and have no respect for personal space" personality than Carol and both of them are bad dealing with it.]

They're both martial artist that are built like a brick shithouse, they can take - and give - a punch like it was love tap.

Good analysis! I absolutely love this series and have been waiting a long time for it to get an adaptation. And even with the slight quality drops at times, it has done the manga justice. It's quite a fun series, and I'm excited to keep watching till the end.

Carol is a bona-fide legend.. even more so with Sally Amaki voicing both the English and Japanese dub.

I love how Carol acts like a loon with no mouth filter, yet she can solve radical math equations in her head and rank first place in her grade (to Misuzu's complete shock).

Some fans who are familiar with autism and Aspergers have speculated that she might be somewhere on the spectrum.

Na, when Carol explains Tomo how she did that equation Tomo understand it immediately and can solve it too.

The reason why Carol is like that it's something that got lost in translation in the anime and the manga tells between lines:

spoiler[In the manga, its revealed that her mom was 13 when she had her, now, the plot never explicitly says it, but, by the conversation Musuzu and her had about being a pudin and not letting anybody eat the "very important cherry" at the top.

Now, if you know what "cherry" means in manga, plus something that happens latter that is yet to be animated, then we can infer that Carol is just a sheltered girl overprotected by her mother who doesn't want to see her commit her same mistake and kinda infantilizes her.

Genetics also help though.]

I wanted to add that I love the "female himbo" description of Tomo. It just fits so great!
