Is this the first time a Rumiko Takahashi hasn't been dubbed in Canada? I know Ranma and Inuyasha were both dubbed there.

John Swasey is good casting as Cherry, but I’m not familiar with anyone else. I know Sentai’s casts can be a little more low-key, but if they fit their roles, this should be interesting to listen to.

Mermaid Forest, Rumiko Takahashi Anthology, and most of Yashahime (everyone not the IY reprisals) were dubbed in LA. Most of the UY movies were dubbed in Wilmington. UY: Beautiful Dreamer was dubbed in NYC. A few of the old 80s OVAs based on her one-shots (Fire Tripper, etc) were dubbed in the UK.

I always remember reading that the nature of Yatsura being a gag manga made dubbing it, if not impossible, extremely difficult and the poor quality of dubs like Those Obnoxious Aliens spoke to that. So this is going to be…interesting.

I heard it was coming soon but I thought there would be a trailer so we would know what to expect.

I thought Rumik World stuff was never dubbed. Speaking of which, RIN-NE was never dubbed either, which is a bit of a shame.

To think, that dub was to test the market to see if people wanted a dubbed UY. People bought it, because of how awful it was. Although, Lum's Dad really sold it for me.

About time! I was beginning to wonder if they'd ever release it.

Most of the cast seem like up-and-comers or newer VA's, or at least not "big names," though if you were ever going to make your name in the world of anime dubbing, playing the main characters in Urusei Yatsura is a good way to do that.

I don't even think I even need to mention the bbc gag dub of a couple urusei yatsura episodes, though it'll probably get mentioned in a few places

I usually hear Nathan Wilson is dramatic roles so it’ll be interesting to hear him play someone as wild and comedic as Ataru.

The dubs were released exclusively in the UK by Manga UK. The US VHS/Laserdisc releases from CPM were sub-only. You can find the dubs for Mermaid Forest (the OVA) and Maris the Chojo on YouTube.

Good for those who wanted an English dub for this show. This rollout confirms that Sentai is dubbing their simulcasts after the first 10 or so subbed episodes are out. I agree with this strategy, but I am not sure if it is a good idea to dub an absurd comedy with so many Japanese cultural references.

So has anyone checked out the dub now that the first episode is up on HiDive? I wasn't sure what to expect, but I love it! Very Happy I'll definitely be watching the reboot through the dub.

He's the highlight of the dub for me so far! His performance is hilarious and full of energy.
