I saw the words 'One Piece ending' and have to say I panicked a little.

HAVE ALL OF MY YES. I missed the ending themes so much. Much more than necessary, I realize, but still.

Wow, that's crazy. I missed having an ending.

I wonder if this means the opening will go back to being 1:30, or if the ending will be shorter than usual?

Man... now it feels like a longer wait for August 6th. I'm glad we got to at least see some of the animation for it.

To me it doesn't need an ED.

The only time the show has had anything approaching decent pacing is when it's had an ED that can eat up a minute and a half of airtime.

But that doesn't make sense. Most of the openings since they removed the endings have been double length, so it's not like the stuff between the OP and ED have any more breathing room.

One Piece needs room for it's 5+ minute long recap and 3 minute long intro.

OP 1-4 were 1:50. OP 21-24 are... 2 minutes long. Even the longer ones are nowhere near "double length".

I'll gladly give them the recap time given how absolutely stunning the latter part of Wano has been. Some of the best animation I've ever seen in a weekly TV series.

I can live with the 5-8 minutes of lost time at the beginning of each episode, but when they go crazy with the prolonged pacing it drives me absolutely batty. I just started outright skipping sets of episodes in the Whole Cake Island arc; it rapidly gets unwatchable when they do that.

End of Wano has been lovely, though. I guess it would be a bummer if this turned that 5-8 into 8-11, and slowed down the pacing of interesting content even more. But I guess I'd rather that as an elongation technique than just stretching out individual moments interminably..

This truly feels like a new era has dawned upon us. Its like the 1000 ep commemeration again. I guess that is to be expected since the anime is going to be Entering its "Final saga" soon and after EP 1071, the story goes in some crazy directions. I am so looking forward to the new opening and the new ending. Very Happy

Kinda silly to me that in 800 episodes there weren't any EDs for the show and the long OP was getting out of hand. But, after, say, the first two years of so, you get used to the idea this is just how One Piece is going to be from now on.

Only problem is stretching a TV Size song into a 2:30 cut, in many ways, is showcasing almost the entire song. Full versions of openings and endings nowadays are shorter than usual, like the new JJK being only 3:10.

So that change makes sense, showcase more artists which means more visual variety and more artists being promoted. Just wish that changed happened... maybe 11 years ago when the time skip first happened.
