I'm not a Digimon fan, but seeing a previously mangled English dub get an accurate one is always hopeful.

I'm so happy to see the movies are finally being released with their original uncut formats here as well as the original dub movie is finally getting a HD release! This is huge for Digimon! I figured the movies will be redubbed but not this fast on time! Can't wait to hear the actual redubs of these first three films.

This really made my day! This was one of those “impossible” things on the level of Sailor Moon or Saint Seiya getting an uncut dub…but here we are. And the fact that they grabbed almost the entire original dub cast (even some of the retired ones) is such an amazing level of commitment.

I hope that if this sells well, they eventually release the other films, which were dubbed but never had a home video release. Heck, maybe they can even dub the Savers movie.

I was wondering why even the need for a redub but then I remember how the movie just mangled all three films together into one story (which while cool at the time was not what they were designed to be) and with getting so much of the original cast back it's all the more reason to properly deliver these films as intended.

Be interesting to compare the scripts though.

I assumed that at most, Discoteck would just redub the component movies, but them doing not just that but also rereleasing the original dub (with the licensed soundtrack no less) was incredible. It had its flaws, but it's definitely nostalgic. Too bad they couldn't get the Angelica Anaconda short, but it probably wasn't worth whatever licensing fees and negotiations that would require and who knows how much budget was already spent on the original soundtrack. Well, I say too bad, but a good number of fans wouldn't have wanted to fast forward through that short every time they rewatched the movie.

I wish that we also got 02's second movie with this set, though that's just nitpicking. My guess is that they'll bundle it with the 2 Tamers movies. The final bundle might be the three remaining films: the Frontier one, the Savers one, and X-Evolution.

Wow, this is actually incredible.

After that really poor Shout Factory Digimon DVD release of the original 4 series from 2014 (they used the broadcast masters from TV? Or someone's personal VHS collection?), never would have thought the day would come where not only is the original series available in English & Japanese on blu ray (and properly remastered better than the Japanese releases), but also the original 3 movies getting proper, uncut dubs with the original North American version being recontructed too.

The level of dedication from Discotek really shines through to make this happen - there was no way any other company out there today would go to nearly this level to re-release this decades old show.

I unironically love Digimon The Movie so I would have been over the moon just to have that finally licensed and the original three films subbed but this was a big surprise to me that they're redubbing them uncut with most of the original dub cast. I'm also glad Matt's original VA is returning as he was recast in Tri and he wasn't able to return for Kizuna. I'm a little sad they're not including the Angela Anaconda short but I understand that copyright is complicated.

The Digimon TV series was released in the US by Cinedigm. Shout Factory only handled Tri and Kizuna. Tri's release was fine and Studiopolis got back most of the original cast for the Tri and Kizuna dubs too though Kizuna's release had an issue with the subs being dubtitles.

The DVDs were released by New Video/Cinedigm and while not perfect, were said to be better than the Manga UK & Madman releases which were worse.

Tri's release is debatable since Toei gave Shout masters for 1-5 that cut down the ending credit animation (while 6 was fine) plus there's also that one panel extra from Part 3 that's missing from the 6-movie set.

Ah, I thought Shout Factory & Cinedigm were owned by the same company, but I guess they only have some deals with one another for streaming some of their stuff.

An official sub release of the first 3 movies was already a dream come true, but a redub as well? Amazing.

This is awesome!

Funnily enough, I was talking to one of my American friends who managed to find the US-edited Digimon movie on DVD at the supermarket (one of the Marts) they worked at a few years ago. Completely untouched, probably been there for over a decade or so. They purchased it and discovered that at the time, it was pretty hard to come by, so it was a pretty good find.

This is genuinely amazing. Not only are they redubbing it, but they really tried to get everyone who was available back. I’m so happy.

It is definitely nostalgia at play, I get it. But let me enjoy my nostalgia- I love the original cast. And I miss the VAs that we have lost over the years. Still, I look forward to hearing everyone, new and returning.

I unironically adore the Digimon dubs and don’t think they were messed up at all. I think the dub of the movie had a lot of charm and I hope that they keep some of the humor. Though I am critical of them cutting scenes for the sake of time, that I always wanted them to fix one day. God- I’m so hyped and happy.

I think they should do this more with Ghost stories ( japanese, famous ADV ad-lib dub and the new faithful english dub )
