Someone should ask Denpa why it's taking two years to publish They Were 11.

OddTaxic was so well liked I’m surprised it took this long for the manga to be licensed.

If their Kaiji releases are anything to go by, they work slooowly.

During a Q&A section of the Denpa and KUMA panel, Denpa revealed that the Heavenly Delusion manga sold "atrociously" before the anime premiered. Denpa representatives stated that if the anime had not done well, the company would have had to cancel the release. However, now the manga is on its third reprint.

Heavenly Delusion is amazing, glad the anime did well otherwise it would've taken years for Kodansha USA to even consider restarting the print or wait for a different publisher to license it

Well Denpa is a group of four working with contractors for translations, copywriters, letter's etc. so it takes a good while to get things done and out. And any small thing for such a small company can have a big impact on the grand scheme of things.

From Covid to printers being backlogged from the shutdowns. paper shortages, increase demand in print media (for unknown reason), release dates had to be pushed forward a bit (or alot i.e. Inside Mari) and don't forget about those shipping container ports being backlogged too. I'm amazed how well the small team at Denpa sailed through that, and probably at one point almost collapsed due to the financial strain that took place during the past 3.5 years or so.
Hope that 2024 could be a restart for Denpa and that they'll be able to comeback strong and continue to release amazing series such as Vampeerz, March comes in like a lion, Nana & Kaoru (published by Fakku, dist by Denpa), Heavenly Delusion and more. Wonder when they'll do the Inside Mari box set that they put a poll up when vol 9 was released earlier this year. Smile

Be interesting to compare the Odd Taxi manga to the anime.
