The series was previously on hiatus and returned to serialization in March 2024.

Wasn't it March 2023? One of your previous articles you cited in this one indicated so.

Now I hope Apothecary Diaries will also get a bust. It was already very popular before anime airing, but I want my season 2 announced.

Madhouse is a much more conservative and risk-averse company than they were before the big boys left a decade ago but such overpowering success has to be a free advert for them. This is also a nighttime anime, for reasons unknown, but so are most anime.

The entire industry became much more risk-averse after the 2008 recession. It was always difficult to get anime-original works produced, but the bar rose even higher after that event. Contemporary shows like Overtake might suggest the industry is becoming a bit more open, but the current crop of isekai/villainess/etc. shows tells me it hasn't moved very far.

Well frieren is not a totally safe anime to show in the day, considering some things.
But 23:00 is overkill maybe 21 would be better.

Unless it's a children's show or something with really massive broad appeal like One Piece, 90% of anime airs after 11 PM.
It has almost nothing to do with content. Hell, My Love Story is an adaptation of a shoujo manga and it aired at 1:30 in the morning. There's nothing objectionable in it, it's just that primetime slots are very expensive and very sought after and they're only going towards the biggest shows.

The light novel sales charts have been half Apothecary volumes for several weeks, and Book Meter's monthly chart had ten volumes on it.
