8 inches huh, that's cool. I rarely play mine out of the dock, but just so happened to take it to work with me yesterday since I usually have a lot of downtime. It annoyed the living ish out of me how small the screen was

I hope it is a nice LCD screen. Going from OLED back to LCD isn't the most exciting proposition.

Well, if that's what it takes to keep the price down ($400, give or take up to 30), so be it. And who knows? Maybe Nintendo might release an OLED version a few years afterwards (assuming these rumors are true).

Besides, I mostly play Switch games docked.

A bit of a shame if it's an LCD screen and OLED isn't the standard from the get go, but I suppose they know they can double dip and get people to buy it again.

If a LCD screen was the tradeoff for a better graphics card or processor, then I'm fine with that because I don't consider slightly better texture and brightness as important as a lower framerate/freeze.
But it depends ultimately of the games performances, i'm mostly a SSBU and PK gen 9 player.

Agreed. My Switch has not left it's dock since I got it. I play exclusively on TV so the screen means nothing to me compared to the other specs.

Nintendo really needs to take a hint from Sony and Microsoft and make a non-portable version of the next console at the same time as the portable version. Just like how you can buy a PS5 without a disc drive (or a Switch that's only portable), give me a traditional console that has no screen.

It irks me how much people take these announcements as fact when it's just analysts blindly guessing at what Nintendo is going to do. These analysts have spent the past seven years insisting Nintendo was going to announce a Switch Pro model at any moment, and they're 0-7 for that one.

Well, let me back it up more - this whole "analytical" thing of Nintendo is not a problem of financial and tech analytics as a whole but common-spread bullshit without major proof of one exact particular person who's been doing it for years despite switching media platforms, and whose name can easily be checked in the articles — while people still believe this joke of journalism because of the "trust" in major social media.

Gotta guess whose name appears in this exact article as a credited source.

Regardless if this turns out to be true or not, personally I prefer a smaller form factor for a handheld as I don't like to travel with a large device that takes up a lot of space in my bag.

Though really I'd rather they just release a console only version so I can get that as I almost never take my switch out of the dock. Ideally it would be smaller, quieter and cheaper Smile

Pretty much and usually their predictions are the most boring stuff you can think of. Terminal tech analyst brain that does not understand Nintendo's design philosophy. It's why I half expect the new system to have some out-there gimmick that makes the power junkies' brains short circuit.

Will never happen considering the Switch's appeal is the hybrid nature.

The Switch Lite isn't a hybrid, if they can go one way they can go the other.

Whatever the Switch 2 is people will complain about it before and after they receive their preorder.
