Hands up who upon seeing the title "The New Gate Isekai" wondered if Gate was getting another season.
*raises hand* The preview seems to promise not much animation, where the most movement on offer was a static pose rapidly approaching the screen. Does not seem to distinguish itself in any way in the preview but I will give it some slack on a first preview video. |

To be honest, I kinda started to like Kirito copycats over the years, but in most cases they really only work for me as supporting characters.

Like it, or not, that show IS one of the most influential in the history of anime, and kinda rather iconic at this point. |

This story has a decent start but it gets bogged down later as more and more characters are jammed into the plot.
I may be judging it through rose-coloured glasses a bit though, it appeared early on in the isekai explosion and I might just be remembering it fondly for that reason. The concept appears cookie-cutter but it was one of the first cookies to be cut, not the hundredth. |

Haha, Rory in the inquest was basically the best thing about Gate. Pretty sure I'd watch a series that was Rory x Ally McBeal. |
