IMAGI, what the hell? Have you ever seen a Dreamworks animated film? For the most part they're just pop culture comedies with little story. Have you seen a Pixar movie? They're sometimes regarded as the Studio Ghibli of America. So why in God's name would you hire someone from Dreamworks over someone from Pixar? This guy is either really good or they're just concerned about making that 50 million back.

That isn't to say that Dreamworks doesn't have some talented staff working behind them, even if the overall quality of their films can't compare to other animation studios. Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, was a good flick as were their Aardman movies, despite bombing in theaters.
Who knows, maybe it just didn't work out with Colin Brady. Interestingly, neither one has any directing experience, yet I still think this adaption has a lot of potential. |

AW NO! Why?!?! I was so so excited for Astro Boy, and from the interviews with the previous director, it looked like he had a pretty good direction for the movie.
Flushed Away was bad. And for me, as an Aardman fan, it was doubly disappointing. Not only was it not stop motion, it was just not a good movie. |

That was the one I haven't viewed yet but from the preview I could tell the humor felt more "American" than "British". Apparently their was some conflict during the production betweeen the Aardman staff and Dreamwork's. Their partnership ended after the film was completed, probably not to anyone's surprise. It's a shame Aardman was forced to work outside their medium, something they've always done well with (that may have played a factor in the production). |

I felt more confident with the original director simply because he mentioned that he had been a fan of Astro Boy as a character before entering the project (unless I'm confusing him and somebody else).
Oh well, at least he's still got experience. |

Hmmm... this guy's got a good resume, and Flushed Away was pretty well thought of in many circles. He could be equal to the task.
Any more word on Gatchaman BTW? |
