I hate these newsposts. It's bad enough that people lost their jobs here without insensitive jerkwads in the forums actually gloating over it. Yes, 4Kids isn't what we'd like all licensors to be. Yes, they try to target anime to audiences it wasn't intended for, stripping much of its content and appeal in the process. Yes, they're sitting on the DVD rights to a certain property I hold very, very dear. But for God's sake, people, can we just let it go and show some sympathy for the people who were just trying to make a buck to support themselves and now have to go through the arduous process of finding new jobs?

I hate what 4Kids has done in the past as much as the next guy, but I can't really rejoice over anyone getting laid off in this sort of economic environment. I hope that those who did lose their jobs manage to get hired elsewhere soon.

Yeah, okay. News flash, Rick Astley: the people who were laid off were not out to destroy your anime. They did not sit behind their desks rubbing their fiendish little paws together, figuring out the best way to personally upset you. Now, do I sympathize with the company as a whole? No. They've made some poor business decisions, and are struggling as a result. Do I hate each and every employee just because they happened to work under the banner of a company that I dislike? Of course not. Believe it or not, 4Kids is staffed by actual human beings, not just devil-spawn hanging from the ceiling cackling over the horrible things they've done to One Piece. They have lives of their own and maybe families to support. In fact, it's likely that those who got cut had very little to do with the actual production of edited 4Kids properties. |

I don't like people losing jobs; I just find it hard to care about a company who's done more to RUIN decent (excepting YGO) shows than most other US licensees.

Viz is more of a threat to anime nowadays then 4Kids ever was, and I don't see "DIE VIZ DIE! BURN IN INFERNO'S FIRE!" as I do with 4Kids. Even though their most notorious creation wasn't all their fault. And newsflash. 4Kids wasn't just an anime company, people who work on their animation staff could have been fired. People who work to create a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles show that is better then it should be (Back To The Sewer that is, Fast Forward was ugh). People who could have never touched any of their anime could have been fired. So saying ignorant things like "AllZ are AnimUS DEMolISHErs, deyz deserved it!" isn't exactly the smartest thing to say when no one knows who is getting the shaft. And I will say this, 4Kids (along with Saban, FUNimation, Dic, and Nelvana) with their kids dub are probably a major reason why I like anime, and got into the fandom. |

I'll agree that Viz is starting to piss me off especially since 4Kids isn't getting anymore anime after One Piece (they still rape the series they have. ) |
