This is great news, I really like Shakugan no Shana. Now if only we could do something about getting Shakugan no Shana Second licensed. Hmm Funi?

Aw, excuse my language, but, hell no. Funimation is already trying to acquire a monopoly on anime distribution in the United States now that they knocked ADV Films out of the major Big 3 Anime Distributors. With only Bandai Entertainment, USA as the last remaining heavyweight among anime distributors, this would be a bad move.
ADV Films has also shown no interest in returning to the world of English dubbed anime and has been relegated to a third tier company much alike that of Media Blasters and AnimEigo. Don't get me wrong, Funimation is a great company, but after Funimation squeezed ADV Films and conned Sojitz into handing over those titles, I noticed a dramatic increase in prices for Funimation DVD's. Especially after seeing a 13 episode Funimation set jump from $35 to $50 at a local Best Buy store. I'd rather much see Bandai get the license or see ADV Films get back into English dubbed anime. |

Woop.
Shana is incredible, I never got round to seeing the second series on fansub, would have loved to, but I'm waiting for it to get licensed now. I don't know why I'm wooping actually, because I only really watch things from DVD now, and I know this isn't going to licensed or released anytime soon, so at the very least it'll probably be released in like 2011. Boo!! On a more possible note, please license the novels Yen Press, I love you more than anything else right now but that would make the icing on the cake. PLEASE license the novels =D |

new Nogizaka Haruka's Secret season!!! it's really sweet romance story and loved the character design, story, and animation... also yay for another Shana!!! |

I have to say I agree, Colonel. Funimation used to be one of my favorite anime companies, because they really took their time with series and did really excellent, consistently well-casted dubs. But recently they're playing the same game ADV got burned in, scooping up every title under the sun and doing consistently worse work on each series (did anyone hear the ridiculously awful Tsubasa dub? I mean, granted, the anime was done poorly anyway, but... Yookeedoh for Yukito? I thought we were past that.)-- and ramping up the prices! (Sure, Funi, I'd be happy to by Ouran for $50-- if that were the whole series. But $50 x 2? Well, I'll wait for it to go on clearance.) I don't think they'll last much longer if they keep this up-- the market isn't stable enough for a huge glut of poorly done series. *sigh* They're going to implode.

I never liked funi much, i still have memories of the 90's, and their work to push other companies out of the market is sickening in this money strapped time.

"restarting" the shana project? like remaking the whole thing? seems kinda fast...i hope they didn't actaully mean that, hopefully it's just a season 3 because even tho season 2 wasnt so great it's still a good series.

I'm super happy for a new Shakugan no Shana. I really enjoyed the first two seasons and imo they've been getting better and better. I kinda hope that Season 2 is still unreleased by the time that Season 3 starts airing. Maybe then they'll just go straight to Crunchyroll streaming, which is quickly becoming my preferred method for getting anime.
-- I guess i'm the odd one in here that likes some of the stuff Funimation does. As far as them being some evil corporation, lol hush. This is a business. ADV ran itself into the ground. It wasn't some plot by Funi, it was just bad business moves. The same with the other company. Funimation is like one of the only companies that could ride the economic storm and live to tell about it. That doesn't make them evil, that makes them a good business. If they did what you guys want, they'd be out of business or flirting with bankruptcy just like all those companies that you're idolizing. |

Hopefully the third season won't turn out medicore like the 2nd season did for Shakugan no Shana. Got a bad feeling their be filler episodes in the third season as well.

Interesting... the first half of Shana II was highly, highly disappointing so I've mixed feelings on this.
I remember reading a claim that the second season ended non-canonically, so one also has to wonder how and if they intend to reconcile. Seeing they had no trouble rebooting progression between the seasons... |

I'm sure they have plenty of interest, but there's not much ADV can do at the moment, given their massive fallout with Sojitz.
...Eh? Conned? Yeah...And that sounds like Best Buy screwing with you, rather than Funi. Their DVDs have been consistently cheap online.
Again, I call bs on price-hikes. Oh, and Funimation offers the best value for money on R1 bilinguals anyway (save perhaps for some of Bandai's LEs like TTGL/00/Code Geass, but Funimation still has better dubbing). As for recent good dubs, check out shows like Baccano! and Darker than Black.
I'll refrain from making comparisons to Germany because of its work in the 40s (oops), and just say try to get past memories. Also, "in this money strapped time", Funimation has every right to increase its market share, as do all companies. |

Big Hed, I know. But what usually happens is that Funimation, like many companies, send out communiques to retailers that give an overview on price increases and SRP's and even if a retailer still have a certain release in stock, they raise the prices on that item.
It's the same way when Gas prices rise. While the Gas still in Gas Station tanks are from previous deliveries, they raise the prices on their gas because of what their Corporate offices say. It's the same with retailers and the studios who control prices. I just think that Funimation would do better if they released an entire season, all 26 episodes, in a boxed set for $50. Am I vocal about Funimation over their pricing and packaging strategy? Sure thing. But, they could stand to rethink their packaging. As it stands, Funimation often packages some of their shows in a single boxed set for $50 but will divide newer releases into two 13 episode sets for $40-50. |

Well, I do agree that it would be good (for me) if Funi released full seasons at $50, but I really don't know if that would be sustainable in the current market (would the increase in volume sold be enough to compensate for profits lost on selling individual disks?). |

Umm, for the record, I said Funi because they already have the first Shana, I really dont care who gets it. As long as we get it, and it is good.
 (Also I assumed since they had the first they would be getting the second eventually, believe me, I perfer how Bandai and ADV do things over Funi most of the time.)
