Why "international" indeed? Unless, they are bringing in items from foreign countries like reverse import DVD covers.

So since they were sitting on the announcement since at least June, is it possible they were waiting to see what a new govenment would do before they officially announced? It isn't a large leap to believe that Meiji University would not have wanted to compete with a national, government-funded center.

west,_tx_tapper, I think that might be the case. So, this is the essential Smithsonian Institute of anime/manga. One has to wonder how long it took them to fund and build it.
