I hope this film is going to be epic as Princess Mononoke.

I'm looking forward to this film. I just hope that Takahata's film will be ready by fall, because I really want to see that film. Surprised

It's been a long time since Hideaki Anno's been involved in a Ghibli production.

The posters alone should indicate that it's not going to be.

Epicness is a subjective term, for example I did not think Princess Mononoke was all that great, but there is a lot of epicness surrounding this new film by Miyazaki, like Anno's voice acting debut.

This film catches my interest quite a bit, moreso with the recent poster. It certainly looks more appealing than Ponyo, of which the character designs turned me off. I like a large number of Miyazaki's works and have many of them in my collection, but really had no interest in his previous work, Ponyo, at all. Some day I might change my mind.

Why? A different genre anime than fantasy/drama/adventure can still be epic, if done properly.

I'm really curious to hear how Anno dubs! ^^

Because you don't call drama or emotional pieces "epic" however good they are.

Well, Porco Rosso fit into those categories and I thought that felt pretty epic. Just because a film involves drama and emotion that doesn't mean it can't be epic. Princess Mononoke had both and is possibly the most epic movie I've ever seen. From what I've heard this film is supposed to be pretty intense, despite the initial low-key sound of it.
