What?! Sentai's now dubbing their undubbed products?! Does this mean there's hope for Kobato or even Ikoku Meiro no Croisee?! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I didn't think this would ever be dubbed and bought the subbed release. Love the show though, I just wished I would have had some sort of warning, given that they didn't dub Maid Sama either.

They've done this with a few of their other titles, like Ghost Hound, Princess Resurrection, and Clannad. It's definitely not the norm though. I'm really surprised (although happy for its fans) that the show did well enough to justify a dub.

Great to see that Sentai is dubbing this, but I still wonder why they would choose to dub this over Maid Sama.

Also it's great to see Chris Patton and Luci Christian work on another project together, I swear they're nearly inseperable!

Now I regret buying both sets when it was released as sub only. I enjoyed the show but it's not worth a double dip for me.

So instead licensing shows that would do well here like Nyaruko if for no other reason than the Lovecraft ties; they are rereleasing and spending money on a dub for what was medicore show when it came out. Don't get me wrong its not bad, but Special A is crappier version of Ouran High or a work Arina Tanemura would do like Gentleman's alliance.

Yea Im just bitter about the lack of Nyaruko and Cuuko.

Am I the only one who — because Sentai uses the same small pool of voice actors for everything — tends to think of Sentai dubs as the anime equivalent of community theatre?

This is one of my favorite series but unless they released it on blu-ray they are wasting their time.
I will never buy it unless it's in the clearance bin.
not to mention, there are already two or three previous releases in the clearance bin.

this is just my opinion, but girl shows dont sell that great.
and funimation even complained about the lack of sales for ouran host club?
it's not that they are not popular, it's just that they are not considered to be collectable, i.e. there is no need to buy it: rent or watch online is just fine such as through netflix for most girls I know who watch anime.

I dont mind watching dubs.
the problem is, most dubs are bad: so I don't watch them.

if the original audio tracks are missing "persona 4" I consider that to be almost as valuable as 'trash'
such a shame since that is the best video game to anime adaptation ever made.

so if you want special A to sell: blu-ray + Dub = winner
or maybe they are planning to use neon alley, that seems to be doing decent

This keeps my hope alive that someday Kurenai and DMC might get the dubs that they so deserve. I'd forgotten that this show even existed.

Yes Razz

I'm not too impressed with this ADR director's previous works but I'm willing to give him another shot. Sentai could use some more talented directors.

I do like the cast list of this one, that Sentai rounded up "the usual suspects" for this one. Since these are all established actors in the main roles for this dub it affords a better look at the director's skill.

I didn't even know sentai had Special A or that it was licensed at all. I did not enjoy this one, and for whoever said it's a crappier version of Ouran, they are being too kind. I ended up dropping this one 3 episodes from the end. Can't say a dub is going to make me give it a second look considering Monica Rial is in the lead role, and I could barely stand Hikari in Japanese it's not gonna do my ears any better if I have suffer through Monical Rial sounding like Monical Rial unless she opts for one of those rare times she doesn't sound like Monica Rial (doubtful she'll do that here).

Not quite. They said it sold poorly on BLU-RAY, but it sold very well on DVD.

Makes sense considering i think quite a few VA's have a background in it.

Sentai's got quite a few of them, usually of the "one girl, lots of guys" variety. And since they've been expanding them with dubs and BD releases, I'd say they're doing ... something.

Selling? Nah, they're probably just cheap licenses, dubs and so on.

I've preordered this one already and the cast list confirms my suspicions of it being more than just a phone in like some of their other unsubs, though Jessica Boone's inclusion would have been fantastic.

Wait, it comes out today? Where's my preorder...

Lovecraft, there at least is your answer regarding Nyaruko. I believe that H. P. Lovecraft's works are still under the eternal US Copyright and would likely require license fees that may make bringing the Anime into North America too costly.

All the distributors here seem to operate on pretty thin margins, even Funimation.
