I wonder if When Marnie Was There would of had more appeal if they had kept it in Britain, I mean Shawn the Sheep is 10th on the TV rantings.

Last I checked, Shawn the Sheep had all of no dialogue and next to no strong ties to its British setting. I don't think that really affects it at all.

I don't think that has anything to do with it. Arrietty's setting was changed to Japan and that performed great at the box office. I honestly think it's just a simple case of the general public not being interested because of the lack of Miyazaki name branding. It's nothing but bias. That's probably why both Arrietty and Poppy Hill did well, because you has Hayao as the script writer. Regardless of actual box office revenue though, I saw the actual movie and it was absolutely wonderful. So it's definitely not under performing because of its quality.
