Sengoku Musou performed consistently poorly, ranking at the bottom of the first two lists and second-to-last on the final list

That's sad, considering it was better then most Winter shows that are not sequel or from the Fall season.

See, I keep on telling people that Shirobako is the best.

YMMV, but I have an extremely high tolerance for crap so long as its set in the Sengoku period and yet I couldn't get past episode 7, and I'm surprised I made it that far given how utterly boring the whole thing was. :/

I really need to get around watching Shirobako. I didn't even check out the first episode because I was feeling unenthusiastic about PA Works at the time, but it's apparently the best thing since sliced bread so...

Voted Death Parade in the poll. What a fantastic series. When I watched the original Anime Mirai OVA some time ago I never expected they could make something so great out of that premise.

Shirobako deserves it. Shigatsu on the other hand seems to be the most overrated thing in awhile. Over-dramatic characters, spoiler[ fake illness] as plot device, and overloaded with cliches. It did nothing new and while it wasn't BAD, it really wasn't that great at all. Also don't understands people's praise of Death Parade. Also wasn't a bad show but I guess I just don't see where the magic in it is.

With all Sengoku Musou's faults Winter had "gems" like Absolute Duo, World Break, Mugen no Fafnir, Isuca and KanColle. Shinmai Maou also hardly better then SM. Rolling Girls had nice looks and first two episodes were great, so I thougth it will be one of the shows, competeing for the Show of the Season title. Great mistake from my side.
So excluding sequels and shows from the Fall season there's Yuri Kuma and IM@S taht I put on the same level + Saekano, Junketsu no Maria, Assassination Classroom and Death Parade, which I put above. I didn't watch Yatterman, so I can't judge it.

As someone who played all nobunaga no yabou and musou games, musou anime is so utterly shit its existence is offending.

Yes, that poll is cheating, but I think that Parasyte, Shirobako and Your Lie in April were the best shows that premiered last fall.

For ANN's poll I voted for Yuri Kuma Arashi, but I suspect that I will consider Death Parade to be of higher quality once I finish watching it.

Hmm, so Parasyte was third... interesting, because it doesn't add up with the horrible sales it had. Maybe that's an indicator of my ever growing belief that disc sales don't necessarily have to do with how popular a show really is, just that people who liked it can't buy it, or are saving money for another show they liked (those discs are expensive, so priorities must be made).

About the poll, my vote went to Saekano. It wasn't really the "best", trying to be as objective as possible, but it was the one I enjoyed the most.

The poll surprisingly was fairly accurate to how the season went. Parasyte and Durarara faded quite a bit (and Aldnoah just flopped) and consequently saw a drop in the polls. For the two cours shows ending in Winter season, I also went Shirobako-Shigatsu-Parasyte as 1-2-3 (though the first two were much closer than the third). For the ANN poll, I went Maria just barely ahead of Death Parade. There wasn't much depth in the one cours shows this Winter season.

I'm glad Shirobako is doing great both in disc sales and public's reception, it totally deserves it. Your Lie in April and Aldnoah Zero were quite bad but then again there's always two or three series that are shitty but have that "right" combination of elements to appeal to a wide audience.

Aww man Shirobako - Parasyte - Shigatsu - Cross Ange are the only four Fall anime made it to the list, Yona wasn't even in the top 10 Sad Well kudos for the first 3, I really love them.

For Winter season, as usual Japan sure loves Cross Ange, IM@s and Aldnoah. I like Saekano and all but exclude the other three, it tops as the most favorite? AssClass didn't even made into the top 10, that's sad. At least Tokyo Ghoul wasn't in it.

As for Sengoku Musou, the adaptation was atrocious, they butchered most of the beloved characters, continued one of the most tired story in SM storyline, crappy recycling actions that even made Kingdom looks like a masterpiece. And that's coming from a hardcore Warriors fan, the only good thing about it was the music.

For the ANN poll, I went with Maria, figure that many would choose Death Parade. Maria went quite well in portraying views on witchcraft, Christain church and feminism.

Shirobako was indeed a very good anime, even more than some of Winter 2015's more action-oriented ones.

I agree. While Sengoku Musō wasn't necessarily a "gem" (even "in the rough"), it wasn't plain dirt, either. It felt mostly average, but never got me to lose interest. I thought that the VA was solid enough to convey the scenes' messages (again, most of it was average, but never felt flat), and the BGM was good and helped carry the action-, and drama-, oriented scenes. I liked the prominent use of the wind instruments.

Actually, Aldnoah entered the season as their 3rd most anticipated, dropped to 5th on the mid-season chart, then fell out of the top 10 entirely in the end of season poll, so I would say Japan wasn't too thrilled with the second season.

KanColle was in the top 5 anticipated series entering the Winter season, but failed to register in the top 10 mid-season and end of season. Gourmet Girl was 4th most anticipated, but also missed both top 10s.
