*wipes tears* OMG! The rankings look beautiful once again. All hail Yamato. BH6 domination is over. It was a good run. The return of CG!

I'm really impressed by the sales for Yamato 2199. I'm guessing the #1 figure is for standard editions, and the #5 is for the various collectors' editions.

To sell over 25,000 in its opening week isn't too shabby at all. Hopefully this will encourage Voyager Entertainment and Bandai Visual to produce more in the 2199 universe.

Yamato on top!! This is the kind of series that deserve to be top sellers. Jojo should be higher, Sidonia should be higher, the likes like kancolle, shirobako need to disappear.

25,000+ Blu-Rays (would be interesting to see how many of those sales were overseas, given the English subs) and 7,300 DVDs. Not a bad first week. I'll be curious to see how its sales trend the next few weeks. I do know Amazon Japan ran out of stock of the standard edition, and it won't be back in stock there until June 7 according to the site (it still has the collectors' edition plus the Amazon-exclusive collectors' edition [the latter of which has a box to store all the discs from the series, the compilation movie, and the new-story movie]).

Now I've got to go pick my copy up from the post office tomorrow.

Not that they were among those counted for these stats, but my copy of the Y2199 movie AmazonJP Blu-ray LE arrived last week, while my copy of Shirobako BD 6 showed up today.

I've got my fingers crossed that they'll decide to produce more of the Yamato reboot, but if they don't I'll still be satisfied with what's already been created...

I don't keep a a huge eye on these, but are Shirobako's sales getting better? I didn't think it was getting ~12k on it's first week for earlier volumes.

I saw the movie twice when it opened in Japan last December. There was a lot of quality issues in places, but to their credit they went back and redid those frames from the layout stage (basically from scratch) and the end result was much better. I have a couple of continuity issues with the movies, and the series in general, but as a Yamato fan for over thirty years, this is still an epic remake of a classic series. Definitely recommend it.

Now to wait and see if these sales prompt them to make more. They've set up the Yamato 2 remake with this movie, now it's in Voyager's and Bandai Visual's court.

Wait, why do you want Shirobako to "disappear" when it's a solid work com starring actual young adults?

I'm ecstatic that Space Battleship Yamato is faring greatly at nearly 18,000 copies! Smile Hopefully there will be more from this show.

Why would you want them to disappear? If anything, most of the starring cast in Shirobako are nearing adulthood.

That was just the Limited Edition. Total Blu-Ray sales are actually over 25,000 units. If you look at #5, the regular edition sold 7,307 copies to compliment the LE. Add to this another 7,300+ DVDs sold and Yamato 2199 moved over 32,000 units this past week.

For the record, the Code Geass 5.1 ch BD box is actually a direct re-print of the same item originally released back in 2013. See here and here. Which means the accumulated sales for that product are higher than this weekly ranking suggests.

Removed because I'm way too disoriented in the morning and made a dumb error.
