I assume this means we won't get a simulcast, unless someone knows of a similar situation from the past.

Hey you like this overwrought talky anime with all the fanservice and girls right? How about watching it on a screen about the fraction of the size you're used to as well? I bet you'll still find that amazing won't you folks.

I don't know just glad that this isn't happening to any anime that I actually care about or am interested in though that isn't much lately. Just seems like an absolutely terrible idea all around, I bet it's so they can wing even more tailored advertisements and stuff directly at people than they already do on sites like Crunchyroll and Daisuki. I notice that Sony is foisting it's home grown seiyuu idol group on the anime now too as opposed to going with the anime voice actress sung themes that the fans tended to like a lot. Wonder how that'll end up playing, who really knows with the Monogatari fanbase really, it seems like they'll like anything the franchise goes with.

So. It's like the tokyo ghoul franchise. they like anything that series goes with even if it's cheap cards they'll pay 200 plus euro for um. It's called a FANbase for a reason mate

Yeah, when I saw this is going to be released on an app, began to wonder if similar anime have gotten simulcast in the past.

There's another upcoming anime, name escapes me right now, that is also one from an app that I want to see...

From what it sounds like this is for japanese speaking fans. It saids nothing about english subtitles for the app. I believe this will just be an ova and used to get people more hyped for the movie coming out. Their even reair bakemonogatari in japan. None of these seems to be focus on western viewers or markets. Its all to get people to buy tickets for the new movie

Guess it's getting a short episode for each story, then. I was thinking it wasn't gonna get a regular TV release, but I was expecting more an ONA than this. Well, whatever works.

Why the fudge would they focus on the western fan base? Anime companies have never done that because we make them little to no money.

Also as for the poster with the stupid rant - you honestly don't understand what a fan is. I'm a fan of the series, so is my friend - yet we often question things SHAFT or NisiOisin do because we love the series. Fans, true fans of a series, are the most judgemental fucks you could wish for because whilst they may get hyped for things they will destroy the series if it disappoints them.

Let's also not forget that there isn't really a western Monogatari fan base - the original source material is only getting any sort of western release this year and it's a kind of confusing series that people watch for a lot of different reasons...The people who watch it for ecchi don't care about plot inconsistencies for example.

Some fan groups are incredibly judgemental and harsh, others will literally eat up anything with the proper branding and never have a single critical word to say about it. I'll let you decide which one I figure Monogatari is but just kind of look at the evidence and how the fans talk and the language they use and it's not to hard to figure out.

As for the Western Monogatari fanbase, these days it seems small if extremely vocal and full of annoying trollish types.

I'm sorry but could you kindly shut up? the reason you see us as annoying is because you don't like the show and don't understand what we like so much about it. in this entire thread the one saying annoying is the one everyone else is finding annoying. at first you were funny. but now your plain disrespectful and yes I'm saying it - annoying.
Also about fan groups. do you want to know why shaft can have ridiculous prices for the series? or has so much relating to the series and constantly does well? Wanna know? it's really genius ready? BECAUSE IT'S WORTH IT! There's more rewatchability then any other series. your buying quality also. when you buy quality I expect it to be dear. why do we gobble it all up as you say? because no matter how many books or how many series shaft and Isin constantly deliver with a great experience. So yeah. of course we gobble it up.
so please. stop acting like an annoying piece of shit and toddle on back to your own fan group. and please don't start with a "This is my opinion shit" because I can't laugh anymore at your obvious hate to those who don't follow your "opinion" which you think is law

We get it, you don't like Monogatari or its fanbase. Honestly though, what is a 'good' fanbase? Pretty much every fanbase for just about anything (this goes beyond anime) can be considered shitty and annoying to some extent. Monogatari is far from the only series that has fans that eat anything they shit out.

Seriously, when you click on something related to it and decide to talk about how much you don't like it or care about it, what kind of responses do you expect to get? Criticism is one thing (this really isn't the appropriate place to discuss it), but 'annoyed/trollish' responses when you go after the fanbase is a given.

I'm sorry, but that is just not true. Any fan base, for anything, will have the fans that will eat up anything and the fans that will critique. I'd say, in this instance, you've mostly been exposed to the fans that eat anything up.

we don't eat anything up. we critique a lot. There's fans that make 20 minute videos on a single episode of the series. but also we do eat anything up. because every single season of this series has been absolutely fantastic and full of treats in almost every way. it's an aesthetic series as I like to call it. artsy writing. artsy directing. artsy animation and art. etc.
I do agree with your point though. but just wanted to point out we don't gobble everything up because we are fanboys/girls. it's because shaft make damn well sure what we are gobbling up is some of there best work. which they continually do for the series
