Otoshimono American Remake in Works

All Nippon Entertainment Works (ANEW), Shochiku Company, and American producer Depth of Field signed an agreement on Thursday that will put an American remake of 2006 Japanese horror film Otoshimono entitled Ghost Train in the works.
ANEW and Depth of Field hope to release the film by 2016 in collaboration with a financing and distribution partner and a budget of around US$5 million.
In Otoshimono, passengers of an underground subway train begin to disappear, and one woman passenger searches for her sister. Original director Takeshi Furusawa and producer Yoshitaka Ishizuka will offer their consulting for the remake.
“The original inspiration for Otoshimono was numerous American horror titles which makes this remake feel like a homecoming for the property,” Furusawa said. “I'm very excited to see how the original version evolves in the American remake version.”
ANEW was founded in November 2011 by the Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (INCJ) as a company that will introduce copyrighted Japanese media to a global market by developing stories and characters in collaboration with other companies.
ANEW has two other films in the works: one based on Tohru Fujisawa (GTO) and Manabu Akishige's (D-ASH, GO-ON!) Soul Reviver manga and a live action remake of robot anime Gaiking.
