Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card Anime Listed With 22 Episodes (Updated)

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda

The official website for the television anime of CLAMP's Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card manga detailed the Japanese Blu-ray Disc and DVD home video release for the anime on Monday, which lists the anime with 22 episodes. NHK reported last month that the series will have 26 episodes.

The Japanese home video release will have eight volumes, with one volume releasing every month from May to November.

The anime premiered on January 7. Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it airs in Japan, and Funimation is streaming the dub on FunimationNow.

Morio Asaka is returning from the first television anime series and two films to direct the new series at Madhouse. CLAMP's Nanase Ohkawa is handling the series composition and is writing the scripts. Kunihiko Hamada (animation director for previous TV series and two films) is the character designer with costume and card designs by CLAMP's Mokona. Masafumi Mima is directing the sound, and Takayuki Negishi is composing the music. NHK, Kodansha, and NHK Enterprise are producing.

Update: While the earlier volumes list video bonuses such as promotional videos, the eighth and final volume's video bonus is listed as "to be determined." (The eighth volume only lists one television episode, episode 22.) The first and fifth volumes will each include clean opening and ending animation sequences; the staff has yet to announce a second set of opening and ending theme songs.
