Detective Conan Episodes Get Chinese Dub 2 Hours After Japanese Premiere

posted on by Karen Ressler

Chinese-dubbed episodes of the Detective Conan (Case Closed) anime will begin premiering on Chinese streaming services two hours after the Japanese broadcast on Saturday. Services that will offer the dub weekly include iQIYI, Tencent, Tudou, and Youku. All four have already been offering simulcasts in Japanese with Chinese subtitles since 2015.

The long-running Detective Conan anime adapting Gōshō Aoyama's manga airs in Japan on YTV and NTV at 6 p.m. JST on Saturdays.

FUNimation Entertainment has recently begun offering simultaneous English dubs for the first few episodes of some of its simulcast anime, including My Hero Academia season 2 last year and Tokyo Ghoul:re and My Hero Academia season 3 starting this month. These shows premiere in English 13 hours after they premiere in Japanese. The last time Funimation offered a simultaneous dub was in 2014, when Space Dandy aired with an English dub on Adult Swim before premiering in Japan.
