AnimeJapan 2019 Puts Public Days Before Business Days

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda

The official website of the AnimeJapan convention announced on Monday that it will change the order of business days and public days for next year's event. While in previous years, the business days took place on Thursday and Friday before the public days on Saturday and Sunday, next year, the public days will be held first on March 23-24 on Saturday and Sunday, while the business days will be held on March 25-26 on Monday and Tuesday. Thursday, March 21, is a national holiday in Japan.

The event previously had industry-only days in 2015 and 2016; both years had one industry day overlapping with the public day. AnimeJapan started holding two dedicated industry-only days in 2017.

The 2019 event will be the convention's sixth event, and will be held at the Tokyo Big Sight.

The AnimeJapan event debuted in 2014 as the merger of two previous events — Tokyo International Anime Fair (TAF) and Anime Contents Expo (ACE).

The event drew 152,331 attendees across four days in March 2018.
